Holiday Meals….The Second Time Around
Getting together with family and friends and eating is one of the best loved things of the holiday season. We tend to over-cook and over-bake (well at least I do) and have so much food leftover during the fall and winter holidays.
I try and hand off send home containers of leftovers with those that come and partake with us, but how is it that all that food seems to multiply?
Thanks Mom For the Goodies!
Out of all the mail and packages I’ve received this month, by far the one I got from my Mom has been the best!
I’m the only one of my siblings that doesn’t live where my parents do, and Christmas in my family is filled with tradition. My mom is all about the food at this time of the year and she starts it off early by getting everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) Advent Calendars to count down the days to Christmas.
Panic and Relief Over Christmas Shopping
A head-spinning mix of panic and relief races through my head as I realize it’s just 10 days until Christmas.
Panic because I still have a gift yet to get for my husband (I never know what to get him). Relief because I know that I can find great coupons at Savings.com to get him something yet!
Rainy Days = Sump Pump Installation
Flickr CC by rayb777It’s hard to believe that I’ve lived in my current home for five and a half years already. The move was prompted by a ‘money-pit’ house that had major problems when we had heavy rains. A flooded basement is not a fun thing to deal with.
Custom Rings
Without realizing it, I actually picked out my own engagement and wedding rings. A normal visit to the shopping mall with my mom, always included a stop at the many jewelry shops in the mall, even before I started dating my husband.
We’d ooh and ahh over all the necklaces, rings, earrings and other pieces. One day I was pointing out a wedding set that particularly appealed to me thinking nothing of it.
I Love E-mail
Thank you to Yahoo! Mail for sponsoring this post about staying connected. I was selected for this sponsorship by the Clever Girls Collective, which endorses Blog With Integrity, as I do.
I love e-mail. Since all of my family lives in Canada it’s the best way to communicate with them. Between sending birthday e-cards or getting the latest pictures of my adorable nephews I can keep up with what’s going on with my family that is 500 miles away.
A GPS Gets Me Where I Need To Be Without Panic Attacks!

Although I consider myself to be quite technologically savvy, I never thought I’d be the kind of person that would get excited over a GPS. Last year I got one for my husband, because he’s the kind of guy that appreciates toys like that.
They Remember More Than You Think
My sister and her family always go south for the winter. They usually go to places like Puerto Vallarta, Mexico or Santa Teresa, Costa Rica. I admire her because when they’ve gone to these exotic locales her boys were still really little. This year they drove through our state on the way to Phoenix, Arizona. It was great fun to see my nephews because it had been so long since I had seen them last.
Re-visiting the Carpet Cleaning
You know how when you’re not sure if you should do something, you ask or look for a “sign” on whether you should proceed? I think after my carpet cleaning post a couple of weeks ago I’m being “told” my carpets need a cleaning, LOL!
The very day after writing that post what should show up in my mailbox? An advertisement for carpet cleaning!
It Only Took a Year But I Finally Updated My Sofa!

I was looking through my blog archives last night, and I realized that exactly a year ago I wrote a post about wanting to update our living room sofa.
Modern Leather Sofas are something my sister purchased for her brand new home last fall.
