How Often Do You Get Your Carpets Cleaned?

credit: PunxyWolfSnowDropsWe moved into our condo unit 5 years ago.  I was smart enough to suggest tile flooring in the dining room to my husband when we were picking out the finishing touches.  We had carpet in the dining room in our house, and I HATED it.  Generally the grownups created more spills and stains around the table than the kids did!

The Sheets Are Too Short!

We were so fortunate to get a room makeover for Amber a couple of years ago.  That was about half a year after we had purchased her queen size bed.

At the time we did buy her bed we also had to buy bedding for it because she had one of those twin sized platform beds before that, and obviously

Visiting Family Makes Us Feel Like Sardines…

You’re curious about my title, I know.  Family, when visiting, is the main reason we run to Walmart and buy air mattresses, sleeping bags and warehouse club amounts of pillows.

When they give me 24 hours of notice that they’re coming you’ll hear me say to Amber “You’re sleeping on the floor again…we’ll make it up to you somehow…”  Truth is, we only have two bedrooms, and so when family comes visiting, we feel a bit squished (kind of like those sardines in the can), and Amber has to give up her room.

A Surprising Sweepstakes Win

One of the ways I got into blogging was because of entering giveaways.  You know how many blogs give you an extra entry for blogging about their giveaway and then linking back to them?  Well that’s originally how Three Different Directions got started.

Home Warranty – Do You Have One? Wish You Had One?

I’m usually at odds with my home. Even when we’ve purchased one that’s been “brand new”, things still go wrong with it. I guess that’s why culture has affectionately deemed homes as “money pits”.

The first house we lived in was actually built by my dad and brother, and before my husband and I owned it, my family lived in it.

Meaningful Mornings Accompanied by Florida Orange Juice

We have a pretty interesting schedule around our home.  My husband works weekends Friday through Monday and gets Tuesdays through Thursdays off.  Plus he gets to work from home on Saturdays and Sundays.  Since we homeschool as well, this means unlike most families we get to eat a lot of breakfasts all together.

A Legacy of Role Models

Me and Amber (2011)Some days I just don’t think I’ve got it in me to be the kind of mother I know that I should be.  I just don’t know if I’m doing or saying the right things to effectively raise my daughter to be a role model herself.  This parenting gig is a lot harder than I thought it was going to be.  But it is made a lot easier when I ask for the advice of my own Mom, who was and still is a great role model for me.

Garage Sale

I was missing in action most of Friday because we were having a garage sale at my home.  The proceeds of the sale are to benefit my daughter’s Girl Scout troop.

The troop leader and I decided that the middle of May would make a great time to have a sale.  The weather would hopefully co-operate by being not too cold but not too hot either.  WRONG.  It didn’t even hit 50 degrees!

Deals on Womens Dresses

Our cruise is paid for, the airfare is booked, the relatives we’re staying with prior notified, and now all I need are a few new pieces of clothing and I’m good to go!

One of the things I love about cruising is dressing up each night and going for dinner.  Even the “cruise casual” nights, I tend to want to dress up for because we rarely go out anywhere the rest of the year that I can wear something a bit fancier.
