Happy 48th Anniversary to My Dad and Mom

It’s hard to believe that’s it’s been almost a year since we took our cruise to Alaska. I’m ready for another one, but with our impending move to Texas a vacation is going to be put on hold for a while.

It was so wonderful that my parents could join us and we were able to celebrate their 47th anniversary with them during that week. I wasn’t quite sure what to do for them, I mean what do you get someone who has a household of things collected over 47 years?!

DON’T EVEN THINK OF APPLYING HERE, YOUR TRAFFIC JUST DOESN’T CUT IT!

Well okay, I’ve never actually been told THAT, but I may as well have on numerous occasions. And I know plenty of other bloggers with engaged audiences, great writing skills, and passionate opinions who have come up against that wall too, all because they don’t have a gazillion unique views a month.

$$ Off at Target!

I love shopping at Target because I can get stylish clothing and save dollars. Generally I don’t need anything, it’s more a want, so I don’t want to buy anything that’s overly pricey. Most of the time I’ll use a Target promo code when I shop to save me even more money.

I also get 5% off every purchase I make because I have a Target card. I don’t carry a balance on my card, so I never pay any fees. So between that, sales and promo codes, I often snag clothing deals for literally pennies on the dollar.

Organizing My Closet and Keeping it that Way!

We have our home on the market to sell, and one of the things I needed to do was clean out our closet. I have a hard time parting with clothing, and my closet shows that. I knew that this was a good time to do a significant closet overhaul. When I put my mind to it, it was really quite a simple task, and I know going forward in the future I’m going to be a little more circumspect with what I purchase by the way of clothing too.

A Call for More Family Giving

Lately, I’ve been spending quite a bit of time doing some much-needed cleaning around our cluttered house. It’s given me a nice chance in particular to stop and look at the many family pictures we have around on the walls, and covering most of the tables strewn about the place. And in lieu of creating a renewed interest in all these photos, the spring cleaning was quite directly the impetus for a strange, yet driving realization I suddenly had: our family has forgotten how to randomly gift!

Sewing for Valentine’s Day

I loved home economics in school, it was where I learned to sew and I did a lot of sewing for a long time.  When my husband and I got married, my mother-in-law gave me money to purchase a sewing machine.

For many years, sewing brought out my creativity and I made some really fun things.

Ack! Our Auto Insurance is Going to Go Up this Year!

Our daughter turns 16 this April.  How is it that time can go by so quickly?  I remember her first car ride on the way home from the hospital. My husband tucked her safely into the infant seat and buckled it in the back of the car making sure the seat belt was securely fastened. And now that tiny girl that weighed in at just 6 pounds 3 ounces is ready to get behind the steering wheel herself.  It just doesn’t seem possible.

Custom Framing More Than Art – A Reminder of a Wonderful Heritage

Before I was married I had no real concept of an investment.  I was just happy to have “pretty things”.

After my father-in-law passed away, my mother-in-law gave all her children some money.  My husband and I wanted to get something with it that would satisfy my need for “pretty” (LOL) but also do a responsible adult thing and purchase something both of value and sentiment.

Merry Christmas – A Blast From the Past

We were looking through old Christmas pictures the other night.  We first bought a digital camera in 2001.  Wow!

I think we’re now on our 4th one as they just keep getting higher pixels, better zoom and just more advanced in general.  Amber was just 5 years old back then!  Here’s a blast from the past
