Garage Sale

var fbShare = {size: ‘small’,}

I was missing in action most of Friday because we were having a garage sale at my home.  The proceeds of the sale are to benefit my daughter’s Girl Scout troop.

The troop leader and I decided that the middle of May would make a great time to have a sale.  The weather would hopefully co-operate by being not too cold but not too hot either.  WRONG.  It didn’t even hit 50 degrees!

We looked hilarious sitting in our lawn chairs covered in blankets trying to keep warm.  There were only a brave few who trudged out in the cold rainy weather to shop at our sale.   We closed up a couple of hours earlier than we intended, but it just wasn’t worth sitting around for the people who weren’t coming.  I’m hoping that part on Saturday will go better, and the weather is nicer so that more people come by to shop and we can raise some more money for the troop.

As I was picking up after dinner, I noticed a few promotional pens laying around by the phone.  I started collecting all the ones I could find, and had a big mug full of them.  It was surprising how many different types of businesses we had received them from.

I’m wondering whether we should make a sign out front and offer free personalized pens with any purchase.  LOL, if only it were that easy to draw people in!

Have you ever gone to the effort of making a garage sale (or rummage, yard or tag sale depending on what they call it in your area)?  Did you think it was worth the time spent setting up, tagging and then boxing up what was left?  Are you doing one this year?
