Go Red with AHA and Real Women + a Heart Healthy Recipe
I’m sharing on behalf of American Heart Association and their Go Red for Women Campaign. Women’s heart health is important to me as my dear mother-in-law passed away five years ago from heart disease. February 1st, is the 10th National Wear Red Day, a moment in time when women and their families take action against the #1 killer of women – heart disease. While the movement has succeeded in saving 627,000 lives through awareness and education, the fight is far from over.
Recycling Ink Toner Cartridges

I don’t consider myself particularly green, but our family does what it can to reduce the impact on the environment. We’ve been using fluorescent light bulbs for years, I bring my own bags to the store when I shop and we recycle most everything we can if possible.
Papers, plastic and glass are a given, and we gather up our electronics about twice a year when they’re either broken or obsolete and bring those to the hazardous waste site (in our city they take electronics and things you can’t just ‘throw’ in the trash year round).
Lean Pockets Pretzel Bread Sandwiches Give Away
I don’t know how you all are doing with the New Year’s resolutions, but I suspect some of you have fallen of the band wagon with me. I was doing really well until the other night when we had a house showing over the dinner hour, so we went out to eat. Granted the food was really good, and I enjoyed not cleaning up my kitchen afterward but my decision making on the menu had something to be desired 😉 .
SAFE HAVEN Film Release Trailer
![]()
I love movies based on Nicholas Sparks’ books and am looking forward to the new one being released in theaters on February 14th based on his novel Safe Haven.
Safe Haven is an affirming and suspenseful story about a young woman’s struggle to love again. When a mysterious young woman arrives in a small North Carolina town, her reluctance to join the tight knit community raises questions about her past. Slowly she begins putting down roots, and gains the courage to start a relationship with Alex, a widowed store owner with two young children
Reader’s Digest Presents The Digest Diet Cookbook
![]()
Well here it is a month into the new year, and I can honestly say that I’ve been doing really well watching what I’ve been eating. I didn’t set out to lose any weight per say, but just to eat a bit healthier and be more active. It’s obviously been working, and I have been using different books over the past few weeks to get into a routine. I have actually lost nearly 4 pounds, plus I have more energy and have been sleeping better!
One of the books that I received was Reader’s Digest “The Digest Diet Cookbook.”
The Skinny Budget Diet by Linda Goff
Get the strategy that was created in the kitchen of a 300-pound wife and mother who couldn’t afford another expensive weight loss plan. There was no more room in the family budget for ordering diet foods and supplements through the mail, no money to buy ongoing weekly support, and no way to pay for a high-priced weight loss surgery. Linda Goff had to find budget-friendly way to lose half of her body weight and keep it off for good. The Skinny Budget Diet was born.
Give Away ~ Little Caesars, When It Comes To Quality, They’re Serious!

Little Caesars has always been serious about quality ingredients! Like dough made from scratch every day in each store!
It proves the point that you don’t have to sacrifice quality for price, because there isn’t a much more affordable place to get pizza from than Little Caesars. It’s one of our favorite places to grab pizzas from, and it doesn’t hurt our wallet to get a few different ones so that everyone gets the toppings they enjoy the most.
Check out the humorous serious video below from Little Caesars about their quality dough.

I Need to Order Some Custom Trophies for Our Daughter…

Regular readers of my blog will know that our family is trying to move to Texas. I say trying because we’ve had our home on the market for nearly seven months now, and we can’t move until we sell it. Besides that though, things are going great.
To catch up those of you who may not know about this ongoing saga, our daughter wants to attend UTD next year to get an arts & technology degree, and since my husband can just switch his location to one in the DFW area and we have no family or roots here, we decided it would be a good time to move South.
