We’ve been fortunate in that we’ve had pretty good luck with the appliance we’ve purchased for our homes.

Not too long ago though I was doing some laundry in the evening and had some bed sheets in the dryer. I have a very sensitive sense of smell and thought that I could smell something burning. My husband couldn’t smell it though, so I tried to shake it off. Then when he got closer to the laundry room he said he could smell it too. So I went in, and the top of the dryer was blisteringly hot.

If you’ve been reading my blog for a while then you’ll know that my family and I immigrated to the United States from Canada. In 2010 we became US Citizens, after a very, very long paperwork process. When you become a naturalized citizen there are only two documents you can use that prove your citizenship, your naturalization certificate and a passport.

A funny thing happened to us the day we became citizens – it likely wouldn’t have occurred if we lived in a metropolis, in NYC passports can be issued expediently without a very long wait at all. But we live in a small city and the only place you can apply for a passport is the post office.

When I bought my iPad in 2011, I was an app downloading fiend. If I saw a free app, I downloaded it. I felt like it was free so I should. At the beginning I was pretty unsavvy as to what made a good app and what didn’t.

Now that I’ve had it for a couple of years, I realize that there are ‘meh’ apps, ‘good’ apps, and (gasp) ‘really good’ apps « and those are the ones that are worth paying for.
