Back to School Chiquita Bites Snack Ideas

APPLE CARSHere in our Texas community families are counting down the days until school starts.  August 25th.  That’s just a little more than 3 weeks!  And that’s when the chaos of early mornings, afternoon pickups, dance lessons, soccer games, homework, girl & boy scout meetings….well yeah ALL of that begins again.  Time is precious but there is only so much of it in our days and sometimes it’s just easier to have things prepared for us in advance.  For healthy snacking that’s already prepped for you, Chiquita Bites have you covered.

Fruity Pebbles Apple and Peanut Butter Stackers

fruity pebbles apple stackers

I love Fruity Pebbles.  There I said it.  I am not kidding.  When my sister came to visit with her boys last year she was in my pantry and said “it was so nice of you to buy Fruity Pebbles for the kids for breakfast.”  Umm yeah, okay, I went along with it 😉

It all stems from when I was a kid.  You couldn’t get Fruity Pebbles in Canada (maybe you still can’t?  I don’t know!).  We would do our twice a year shopping trips over the border and my ‘treat’ was a box of Fruity Pebbles.  I would ration that cereal like it was gold.

#1 Texas Chili Cheese Turnovers

Not long ago one of my friends asked a question to “Texans” on Facebook.  It was just after we moved here and I preceded my answer with “well I don’t know if I’m considered a ‘Texan’ yet…”  The reply I got made me smile “If you live in Texas, you’re a Texan.”  So I’m thrilled as a ‘Texan mom blogger’ to blog about Texas’ very own Wolf Brand Chili.

Ultimate Party Meatballs

Our daughter loves meatballs.  It’s one of her favorite foods to eat.  Maybe because they’re a “mini” food, I don’t know but if meatballs are on the menu, she’s a happy girl.  Last May when her BFF graduated from high school, at her open house party there was a slow cooker full of meatballs.  Amber was in heaven, as a matter of fact she was talking about those meatballs all summer (yeah, she needs some more extra curricular activities apparently).

Pinecone Popcorn Balls

One of my favorite things to eat is popcorn.  I love it.  Buttered, savory, sweet.  Any of those ways is a good way to eat popcorn.  I have made a couple of recipes of sweet popcorn mixes before on my blog, but I’ve never done popcorn balls before.

It made me especially happy to see Good Cook doing a Popcorn Event this month.  They sent their Kitchen Experts a range of products to create tasty popcorn balls to kick the event off.

Gooey M&Ms Almond Popcorn

If you’re looking for the ultimate popcorn recipe for an epic movie night at home, this is it.

We’ve been spending most of our evenings indoors the past couple of weeks, because it’s so hot.  We did venture out to check out our local library the other day, and I borrowed Jurassic Park in 3D on DVD to watch.  I decided we had to have something completely yummy to nosh on while we watched it because dinosaurs in 3D are just scary even if they are 20 years old and computer generated, and quite honestly popcorn makes everything better.
