My mom has passed down a lot of things to me in life, both by nurture and by nature. But one of the things her DNA was dominant over my dad’s was hair color…or lack there of, however you want to describe it. My mom had COMPLETELY white hair by the time she was 41. I mean yeah, at least it was pure white, and not a salt & pepper or a yellow-white, but still…41.

As I get closer to that age, I’m getting that eerie feeling that…I’m turning into my mom!!! Okay, not really but I have a lot of white hair, and am too cheap to go to the salon every month to have it colored or highlighted, so I do it at home.

I will be the first one to admit that the dental hygienist is not on my favorite people to visit list. That being said, because of the lack of dental insurance I had when I was a young adult and subsequent teeth cleaning scaling I had because I had not visited the dentist in a couple of years, I now take my family’s oral health care very seriously.

As my regular readers know, I review a number of different brands on my site for all different kinds of products, but the brands I trust completely and am very loyal to for healthy teeth is Crest and Oral-B.

I had a resolution to dye Easter eggs this year. Sadly, the last time we actually dyed them at home was ten years ago!

If you have a teenager in your home you know the hormones in their body effect everything from their skin to their attitude. The quicker my teen can get something done that she isn’t fond of doing the better, for both her…and me!

One of the reasons I love cruising for vacations is because of the formal dinners to get dressed up for.  In the regular routine of my life, there just is not any reason to wear fancy dresses or get dressed up for a special occasion.  We don’t get invited to any formal parties and weddings in our family and friends are few and far between.

Although for over 60 years David’s Bridal has outfitted brides on their special day, with nearly 50% of all brides in the US choosing to shop at one of their 300 stores, this was only the second time I’ve walked into our local store.  The first time was six years ago when my sister got married and I needed my bridesmaid dress altered.  That is a common occurrence for me, shopping for formal dresses is challenging when you’re only 4’9”. 

Ten years ago I would have scoffed at the idea that a ‘premium’ air filter would make a difference in ones furnace.  I was more about being cheap than about being smart and cost-effective.

Back in September I wrote about the opportunity I had from Mom Central to share about the experience of using a Whirlpool water filter in our Whirlpool fridge.

I got my first pair of glasses when I was in 6th grade.  Back then there wasn’t much choice, glasses were less than fashionable, and no one in jr. high wore contact lenses.  When I graduated high school and considered myself an adult, one of the first things I did was visit my optometrist and get myself some contacts.  A lot has changed over the years.

When we got married and had our first home, the kitchen didn’t have a way to put a water filter line into it.  We used a table top pitcher to filter our drinking water, and the one thing my husband always said that was if we ever moved into a new home, he’d make sure it was built so that we could get a refrigerator with a built in water filter.  Five years later, he got that wish!
