There are so many days when as a mom I feel challenged when trying to discuss things with my teenage daughter.  You know how it is. 

When I was in jr. high my mom always had an abundance of snacks on hand during the summer.  We were the neighborhood “go to” home because we had a swimming pool in our backyard!  I remember one thing that was always stocked in our freezer and that was Bagel Bites.

It pains me to say that we are STILL having dreary weather where I live…sigh.  The forecast predicts nicer days this week and I hope it’s correct!  Maybe we’ll get to hit the pool!  With a fair skinned family with sensitive skin issues, it’s hit and miss when choosing sunscreens.  I recently received a number of the new Neutrogena Wet Skin Sunblocks to try out and share what my family thought about it; so I made a vlog yesterday.

When Amber was younger she had the fiercest growing pains.  Her legs would hurt so much that many nights we would sit in her room and just massage them until she would fall back asleep.  When it would happen more than once a night we would give her some Tylenol to help relieve the pain.  Correct dosage for your child can sometimes be a confusing issue.

We have a pretty interesting schedule around our home.  My husband works weekends Friday through Monday and gets Tuesdays through Thursdays off.  Plus he gets to work from home on Saturdays and Sundays.  Since we homeschool as well, this means unlike most families we get to eat a lot of breakfasts all together.

Me and Amber (2011)Some days I just don’t think I’ve got it in me to be the kind of mother I know that I should be.  I just don’t know if I’m doing or saying the right things to effectively raise my daughter to be a role model herself.  This parenting gig is a lot harder than I thought it was going to be.  But it is made a lot easier when I ask for the advice of my own Mom, who was and still is a great role model for me.

Well it’s the middle of April and yes indeed we had snow flurries yesterday! Sigh. I’m longing for green trees, and warmer weather. Although that brings the summer wardrobe to the front of the closet, and shorts and bathing suits! Sigh (yet again!).

I’m always excited when I get to try out new recipes as part of my blog campaigns.  I’m especially partial to tropical type foods, so when I saw the Old London Hawaiian themed recipes that came with my last Mom Central campaign I was eager to try them out.

Vlogging is going to become a bigger part of my blog this year!  It has been requested by a few sponsor’s so far, so I’m stepping up to the plate to do it!  My new iPad 2 (YES YES!! I bought one!) is making it a bit easier since the front facing camera allows me to view myself while I’m vlogging, but it will take some time to get completely comfortable with the interface so bear with me while I try and accomplish that!

I can’t believe it’s December already.  I feel like summer just ended, okay not really, but it has been a super nice winter for us in the Northern Plains so far, something that rarely happens.

Generally you combine cold weather with wicked winds here which results in dry, flakey, itchy skin.
