I have to tell you, prior to marrying my husband I wasn’t overly careful with my things.  It’s not as if I threw my walkman (oh yes, I’m that old!) on the floor or anything, but a few scratches here or there on my camera, or boombox, well that didn’t bother me.  But my husband, he’s all about the pristine.  He thinks that when you’re finished using electronics/tech devices they should still look like they came out of the box.  And truthfully…that man, he’s kind of rubbed off on me.

As I look back upon the Thanksgiving holiday and perused the online sales on Friday, it still doesn’t cease to amaze me how very much my family has to be thankful for.  We are healthy, have a roof over our heads, eat well, have vehicles to drive and even have the ability to go out and buy gifts for each other just to show we care.  Extremely blessed is what we are.  And so while we give to our church and charities all through the year, during the holiday season we make an effort to give even more where we can to organizations where their benefits touch many.

Soothie Suckers are the Cool Way to Feel Good!

We like to hold a lot of holiday gatherings in our home.  Inevitably the bathroom is going to get used.  Sometimes it’s just one or two people that ask to use it.  Other evenings it’s like there is a revolving door into it!  It is the first room I clean and prepare when I know we’re having guests, and I like to do a few fun, quick things that make an impression on those who need to use my bathroom.

I’m sure you’ve seen the quote signs “Pardon the Mess, but our Children are Making Memories.”  It often just doesn’t mean Legos and Barbie shoes on the floor, but also crayon marks on the walls, nail holes from former art work hung and school projects needing to be finished.

I recently was given the chance to try Wineheart Vinoleche thanks to House Party.  It’s not widely available where I live and the only store in the vicinity that sold it only had the Tres Leches variety.  Not that that’s a bad thing, but I was hoping to try a couple of different kinds so that we had a better idea of the flavors they offered.  The recipe card that they had to match the Tres Leches was a Peaches & Cream drink.

We’ve lived in our home for about 17 months now and it feels like it’s finally starting to come together décor wise.  We’ve changed out and painted light fixtures, faucets, cabinet pulls and even all the switches.  But wall space in many of the rooms is still stark, and I have been looking and watching for the right pieces to put in those spots.

How did November come upon us so quickly?  As we drove out to the college to pick our daughter up for Thanksgiving break it dawned on me that she’s almost finished her first semester!  We’re starting to get used to this new season of life for us being empty nesters for much of the year.  I am immensely thankful for our Unlimited Talk Text and Data/Web with our Walmart Family Mobile plan because it allows us to keep in touch with her while she’s living at school.

As soon as Halloween is over, it’s the cue that Thanksgiving and Christmas are on their way.

It doesn’t matter if you live in a climate where there is no snow, or whether you’re a Thanksgiving Purist and can’t put the tree up until the fourth Friday in November.  When November 1 turns over on the calendar you start thinking of all the gatherings, entertaining and food that will be served over the next two months.
