I have to tell you, prior to marrying my husband I wasn’t overly careful with my things. It’s not as if I threw my walkman (oh yes, I’m that old!) on the floor or anything, but a few scratches here or there on my camera, or boombox, well that didn’t bother me. But my husband, he’s all about the pristine. He thinks that when you’re finished using electronics/tech devices they should still look like they came out of the box. And truthfully…that man, he’s kind of rubbed off on me.
In the past we’ve tried different screen protectors for our devices. Starting way back with my husband’s first Palm Pilot (I told you I’m old!). Most of them didn’t last long on our phones or tablets. They either didn’t cling well enough, or they were hard to get the bubbles out of them, in cold weather many of them would lost their adhesion and start to lift. So we stopped using them. Much to my husband’s chagrin though when he would see a scratch on my phone face.
But not long ago I was sent an intelliGLASS screen protector for my iPad 2 from intelliARMOR to review. They are a new line of screen protectors that are crafted with a unique layering process that combines the following:
• An advanced silicone base layer that adheres to your phone or tablet’s screen easily and without bubbles – all while leaving no residue.
• An ultra-hardened REAL glass layer that has been specially treated to have greater scratch resistance than steel.
• An oil and smudge resistant outer layer that repels fingerprints and makes cleaning your device’s surface a snap.
It was so easy to apply to my screen.
Following the instructions, I cleaned it with the alcohol pad and the dust film they supplied.
Then I lined it up to the home button and camera, and it almost literally just suctioned itself on. It was really neat to watch.
IntelliGLASS even supplies you with a little sticker for your home button.
There were a couple of bubbles on the bottom of the casing (not on the screen), but I wasn’t worried as the instructions note that with normal use they would flatten out on their own, and since it was just on the white casing area, it really wasn’t a big deal.
Do note though that even though it is thin, it adds enough thickness to the edges of the front panel that I had difficulties sliding the back portion of my Otterbox case on to the sides. That also must have lifted the intelliGLASS screen just enough to produce a few more bubbles along the edges. Again though, just on the white portion of the face, so it does not inhibit the use or looks of the screen at all. Unless you look closely and at a certain angle they’re not even noticeable.
Overall, it certainly has been the easiest screen protector I’ve ever applied before and it looks fantastic on the iPad, you can’t even tell that there is a protective covering on the screen and its responsiveness is just as if it were the original glass. I’m really pleased with it. See if you look at the photo below, you’d never even know it’s on there!
