We DVR pretty much everything we watch on TV and view it at a later time.  Most always we zip through the commercials and barely watch them.  But I actually enjoy watching commercials during the holiday season, not just because I learn about new products that way, but also because a lot of them can be funny or just plain (in my mind) ridiculous.

If there is one thing that I am picky about it’s my coffee.  I can handle sub-par food, but not coffee.  My coffee needs to be just right or I can get kind of crabby about it.  When I was at the BlogEats conference, Kraft had set up a couple of Tassimo machines with assorted hot beverages for us to enjoy with our breakfast.  Yes while the Tassimo is made by Bosch, the T-Discs that you use with the Tassimo system are produced by Kraft Foods (who knew right?!) 

The holidays should be a joyous time for everyone, but often those who are overworked and overwhelmed with circumstances in their lives can possibly become depressed.

I was doing some depression research and it seems that it can be common for people to fall into depression during the winter.  I can see that, because November, December and January can be stressful months.  Perhaps it has something to do with the weather, or maybe the holidays or maybe both of them combined along with other personal circumstances.  Pile all those things on top of each other and one can feel extraordinarily worn down during this time of the year. 

Do you ever find yourself frustrated because you need to be on the phone but you also have a million other things to do around your home?  Whether it’s because you’re waiting on hold to iron out details with an insurance company, talking long distance to family or friends or a work related call, you are frustrated because your child needs a band-aid, your laundry needs folding or you’re in the middle of making dinner.

In honor of Guinness World Records Day, Thursday, November 17th, here are a couple of record-breaking ideas that are easy to do at home, and may even get you in the book!

One of the reasons I love cruising for vacations is because of the formal dinners to get dressed up for.  In the regular routine of my life, there just is not any reason to wear fancy dresses or get dressed up for a special occasion.  We don’t get invited to any formal parties and weddings in our family and friends are few and far between.

Although for over 60 years David’s Bridal has outfitted brides on their special day, with nearly 50% of all brides in the US choosing to shop at one of their 300 stores, this was only the second time I’ve walked into our local store.  The first time was six years ago when my sister got married and I needed my bridesmaid dress altered.  That is a common occurrence for me, shopping for formal dresses is challenging when you’re only 4’9”. 

Winter is coming, and with it Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s and (gasp) perhaps the five extra pounds the average person gains over the holiday season!  Add that on top of the calories we downed from the Halloween candy we pilfered our children shared with us.
