So you want to update your countertops from laminate to granite, but don’t want a big job or the expense of what granite costs. What…

As much as we wish it wasn’t reality, crime is always around us. Thankfully I’ve never personally been a victim of a home or car break-in, identity theft or other serious crimes. I have experienced vandalism to my home though and part of the reason why is because at the time we weren’t as vigilant or proactive as we could have been to prevent it.
As a Member of the Master Lock Live Secure Safety Squad, I’ve learned that a lot of crimes can be prevented with basic things we can do ourselves.
Believe it or not summer is coming folks, and that also means that family vacations are not too far away!
So what can you do to ensure that your family and belongings are safe while you’re traveling?
Here are 5 things we always bring along for safe family travel:
When I stopped working outside the home in 2006 it’s like my sense of style went away with my job. Staying home during the days and homeschooling our daughter means that the dress code ranges from hoodies and lounge pants to pajamas some days. Now that Amber’s heading to university and I have places to go and people to see outside of that “mom” position I hold so dearly, I need some updated fashions to add to my closet.
If you’ve been a reader of my blog for any length of time, you’ve probably figured out by now that ‘easy’ and ‘simple’ are the way I roll. I’m not big into time consuming recipes or beauty regimens, the quicker I can do something, the more frequently I’m going to do it. That’s why although my skin is itchy and flakey (especially in winter) I’ll rarely stick to a lotion routine, because I have no patience to apply it to my body, rub it in, and wait until it’s no longer sticky or greasy before I get dressed.
It’s been nearly 4 months since we’ve moved and I cannot believe the amount of papers and documents we already have cluttering up our office space. You know all those HIPPA forms from all the new doctors and dentists, the supplemental forms we needed for our mortgage, and of course I’m always getting papers and contracts for my blog. We have a pretty good file organization system but I’ll tell you a little secret …we’re kind of paperwork pack rats. Meaning we keep papers way longer than we need to.
Quite honestly I thought that when Amber got older I’d have less stains to manage in my laundry. WRONG! And the ironic part is… it’s the grown man in the house that causes my anguish with most of them. Is it really that hard to take a napkin?!! The latest stain I found in my laundry basket was greasy and orange and I took the Resolve to it.
Can you believe that it is October already?!! The year is just racing by! This month as part of Master Lock’s Live Secure Safety Squad, I made a vlog showing things that we do in fall that keep our family safe because we keep our home secure.
It’s pretty short, just over 3 minutes, but it may give you some ideas on things that you can do around your home for your family’s saftey.
