#SpringatKohls ~ Kohl’s Misses Fashion Spring Collections #MC

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Kohl’s. I received a Kohl’s gift card to facilitate my post and as a thank you for participating.

When I stopped working outside the home in 2006 it’s like my sense of style went away with my job.  Staying home during the days and homeschooling our daughter means that the dress code ranges from hoodies and lounge pants to pajamas some days.  Now that Amber’s heading to university and I have places to go and people to see outside of that “mom” position I hold so dearly, I need some updated fashions to add to my closet.  That way I won’t completely embarrass her at her graduation party, commencement and freshman orientation .  To help me out with my fashion dilemma Kohl’s sent me a $75 gift card to go pick up some pieces from their new Spring fashion collections, and I thought I’d model what I picked up for you all!

If you’ve been in the misses clothing section of a store lately, you’ll have noticed that one of the big trends this season is Nautical Stripes.  The colors and boatneck styles beckon the sites and smells of the seashore.  Now there’s not a whole lot of water going on here in North Texas, we’re actually in a drought right now, but I love the crispness that nautical theme evokes in fashion and I knew it was for me.  The top is from the Croft & Barrow brand and it’s an affordable regular price of $24.00.  I found a pair of blue glittery ballet flats on clearance that I can slip on barefoot, working that marina type look.

I paired the top and flats up with a pair of ELLE Skinny Jeans.  Another spring fashion trend that you’ll find this year is the roll cuff denim.  Folks this makes me smile, because I. Am. Short.  Rolled cuffs… that means no hemming for me and I am all over that.  The jeans can do double duty though I found, and worn straight legged (in which case I can just tuck the excess length inside the pant leg instead of hemming, yep I’m digging these jeans).  With a different top and some accessories, I have another complete outfit that can take me out on the town for a ‘dressier’ look.

For this look I paired the jeans together with a Simply Vera Vera Wang Mixed Media Top (another big spring trend this season – mixing two different fabrics on one garment), a pair of Apt. 9 Flip Flops with some crystal looking floral embellishments (floral accessories are something else to keep your eye out for), a great Jennifer Lopez clutch and a sparkly jewelry set from Croft & Barrow (both of which were clearance finds that matched the colors in the top perfectly).  The Simply Vera spring top takes those jeans up a notch.

So now that you’ve seen them on the hangers…take a look at them on me!

While I was checking out with my Kohl’s fashions, the sales clerk encouraged me to sign up for Kohl’s Rewards, as if I needed another reason to shop there…what a bonus to get rewards in addition to the great prices Kohl’s always has.  The styles and the savings keep me checking Kohl’s out regularly.  If you’re looking at getting some of the latest spring fashion trends, check out your local Kohl’s to try on some of the many pieces in their Misses Fashion Spring Collections.
