Can you believe that it is October already?!! The year is just racing by! This month as part of Master Lock’s Live Secure Safety Squad, I made a vlog showing things that we do in fall that keep our family safe because we keep our home secure.
It’s pretty short, just over 3 minutes, but it may give you some ideas on things that you can do around your home for your family’s safety.
The Security Bar shown in the video can be found on Master Lock’s website and for purchase on Amazon.com if it is something that you would like to buy for your home.

It is crazy that it is already October! This video had lots of great safety tips!
We are moving soon and will need to implement some of these ideas.
I'm going to check into the smoke detectors with the 10-year lithium batteries. Thanks for sharing these great tips!
I have those long lasting smoke detectors so it's really nice because I'm lazy with the switching.
Great idea on the dryer vents. It's been about 2 years since I did it last. I forgot!
I have motion sensor lights by my entry doors also! And I've never heard of a security bar!
Thanks for sharing how to keep the home safe this fall!! I know it feels like the year just started, looks like I have some stuff to get done!
I think that having a bright outdoor light is probably the easiest way to deter criminals! No one wants to be SEEN breaking into your house! We have motion sensor lights on the front porch and back porch!
I would love to have motion sensor lights and this has a lot of great tips, thanks!
I think your tips are excellent! We check our smoke detectors twice a year, usually when we change our clocks.
We've been installing all kinds of security for our home..now that we have a private home, I get scared easily!
We used to own a couple of those door stops, but my husband gave it away to his coworker who lived in a bad neighborhood. Also, I'm glad I watched the video because now I know to check my dryer vents.
I think motion sensor lights would be awesome!
These are excellent tips. I need to check our smoke detectors!
Some great tips! I have been wanting to get motion detection lights.
Thanks for the tips! We have good exterior lighting and really good triple lock sets to help us be safe, however, something I REALLY need to do that you brought up is clean the dryer vent!
Great tips! We clean out our dryer vents often. A neighbor actually had their house catch on fire due to an over full dryer vent. yikes.
Thanks for the great tips. Also, thanks for the reminder to replace my outdoor lights, the painters broke them, but never told us, and I never think about it until it's dark and I need them!
Those bright flood lights that go on automatically when someone walks by.
Motion sensor lights are definitely a must. Great tips on keeping the family and home safe.
Good reminder on the smoke detectors — I don't think my husband has changed ours in awhile! Eeeek!
I've been wanting to add some motion sensor lights!
We keep our outdoor lighting on at night and have a security alarm.
What a great reminder, to clean out dryer vent. Especially like article said, if you move, you don't know when it was last cleaned.
