Hickory Farms: A Holiday Tradition
Gift Guide Pick
A box branded with a Hickory Farms label is something that I look forward to every year when December rolls around. Last year I was blessed to be a part of a Mom Central blog campaign where I got a gift set to review.
Hickory Farms and Mom Central sent me another gift package this year, to celebrate the holiday season.
Literati eReader by The Sharper Image
Gift Guide Pick
One gadget that’s likely to be on a lot of Christmas wish lists this year are eReaders. There are many to choose from with different price points, and different features, and one of the newest on the market is from Sharper Image and it’s called Literati. Just released in October of 2010, it’s available at retail locations nationwide just in time for Christmas shopping.
Sharper Image has long been a company that has enthralled people with lights and buttons on electronic devices, so it makes sense that they would enter the booming retail presence with an eReader of their own. What makes this one a bit different than the majority of the ones on the market is that is has an LCD display rather than an E-ink one.
Popchips Giveaway
My family and I recently had the chance to try out a variety of flavors of Popchips.
What’s a Popchip you ask? Well it’s a potato chip, but it’s not baked or fried, it’s popped (hence the name)! What makes it different from a regular potato chip? How about 1/2 the fat of fried potato chips, no cholesterol and 0 grams of saturated and 0 grams of trans fat. It’s an all natural snack for your family. We got to try 6 different flavors, my favorites were sour cream & onion and barbecue. The rest of the family laid claim to the original and cheddar flavors. So you see, there is a flavor for everyone!
Give Hope With Every Cup
During this month of October I’m sure that you’ve read about many companies that are choosing to donate money to various foundations that support breast cancer research, awareness and the women affected by the disease. I featured just a select few back in August when I had my “Cancer Research Awareness” week, after our Girl Scout Troop participated in “Relay For Life”.
Today I’m sharing about Dannon’s “Give Hope With Every Cup” campaign. Throughout September and October, a variety of Dannon products will help support the cause, not only by raising money, but also by increasing awareness for a disease that affects women and families at a staggering rate – with more than 290,000 women diagnosed every year.
Reducing Allergens In Your Home
My husband suffers from allergies. Living on the second floor of a three-story building, means that it gets warm in our home quickly. In order to save on our energy bill, we try and keep the windows open to cool our home off. In other words, all the dust and pollen from outside flows through our home. It’s sort of a catch-22, we don’t pay a high electric bill to keep our air conditioner running, but I have a lot more cleaning to do, to try and reduce the allergens in our home.
Crest Pro-Health Complete Rinse
A couple of weeks ago I had shared that I was part of a Mom Central campaign testing out the new Crest Pro-Health Complete Rinse.
I have been using the Complete Rinse each night after brushing and flossing and I love it! What I really think makes it a stand out product is that it doesn’t have that sting of alcohol that other rinses use.
I shared in my previous post that I’ve never really used mouth wash or rinse, so this was a good experience for me. My husband does on a regular basis though, and
High Fructose Corn Syrup – What Exactly Is It?
There are many things that moms are passionate about when it comes to what’s best for their family. Hot topics that get people riled up; breast feeding vs. bottle feeding, to vaccinate or not, and most prominent of late – the evils of High Fructose Corn Syrup. But making other moms feel inadequate as parents because of something you believe, without having all the facts is not fair.
Nutrition is a serious thing and must be discussed seriously, and that’s what I want to do today – to discuss it. Lay out the facts, and then let every parent decide for themselves what they want to do, no judging, no finger pointing, no labeling.
I personally have never checked the contents of my food to see whether or not it has high fructose corn syrup in the ingredient list. It never occurred to me that it may be either bad or good for my family to eat it. However, I have seen and heard the recent media onslaught of the horrors of feeding it to your children (I’ve never been one to cut anything completely out of my child’s diet, I am of the belief that anything is okay in moderation), so when I was contacted by Mom Central to learn the facts of high fructose corn syrup and how it relates to nutrition, I was interested in learning more.
The Beginning of a New Oral Health Care Regimen
It’s kind of a Crest/Oral Health Care themed day on my blog!
Visiting the dentist twice a year, flossing and brushing teeth are all a regular part of our oral health care regimen around here. And up until just recently I thought that was good enough. I mean really what else can you do?
I haven’t ever really struggled with horrible morning breath (I can probably down a large animal after a few cups of coffee however…), so never really have been big on the whole “mouth wash” thing. Little did I know that not all of the rinses were for freshening breath only.
Back to School for Mom with American Public University
Back to School isn’t just about the kids. Many mothers put their schooling on hold to spend time with their children, or because raising a family makes finances a little tighter.
American Public University is a place that understands moms have a lot of responsibilities, on many different levels.
APU’s tuition is one of the
How to Make Apple Pie in 33 Minutes Or Less
Over the years I’ve tried to make apple pie. Somewhere in the midst of it all, I realized a good homemade apple pie coming out of my oven, was never going to happen. I no longer beat my head against the counter, and resigned myself to eating it elsewhere.
A couple of weeks ago, I learned about Banquet Fruit Pies. My spirits were lifted at the idea of being able to have an easy to make apple pie that I could enjoy (and serve) in my home, from a company I trust. Each Banquet fruit pie has
