Aloha–Old London

Well it’s the middle of April and yes indeed we had snow flurries yesterday! Sigh. I’m longing for green trees, and warmer weather. Although that brings the summer wardrobe to the front of the closet, and shorts and bathing suits! Sigh (yet again!).

Old London, the makers of melba toast products, know that I (and likely you!) want to fit in to those summer clothes when the time arrives, and so they are encouraging us to include healthy, simple foods in our everyday choices. Their snacks made with all-natural ingredients and whole grains, are a great way to satisfy those middle of the day hunger alarms, and go great with salsa and cheese.

I received a few boxes of the Old London melba toast snacks to try out. I used them in a few different ways.

First I tried the Bagel Chips in the Spicy Cheddar flavor. These light and crunchy snacks have just 60 calories per serving. I don’t know that I could eat these straight out of the box, because they are on the hot side. What I did with them was break them up and use them on my salad. It gave it a bit of a kick!

The Roasted Garlic Melba Snacks we did eat right out of the box. My husband consumed just as much as I did of them, which classifies them as a repeat buy, since he’s pretty picky when it comes to his food.

I used the Whole Grain Melba Toast to make a delicious Coconut Pudding of Oahu, which if you click on the words will take you to the recipe to make it. The recipe was pretty simple to make, and the guests we had over had seconds, so I wasn’t the only one who thought it was tasty apparently!

In the theme of the above Hawaiian dessert, Old London has launched the “Aloha Old London” sweepstakes and will send one winner and a guest to beautiful Oahu, Hawaii for an all-expenses paid, Hawaiian vacation. The winner will be invited to soak up the sun, enjoy the spa and the surf, treat themselves to private cooking lessons, and just breathe during the four-day, three-night, all-expenses paid trip. Enter the sweepstakes now through June 30th, 2011 at www.facebook.com/OldLondonFoods.
