Brief History of Sitting Fashionably

Being a blogger and tied to my computer for most of the day, I do a lot of sitting.  Not just for that, but of course in the car, in front of the TV, at the kitchen table….sit.sit.sit.  And there’s nothing worse than having to sit in an uncomfortable chair.  Am I right?

Sometimes chairs that look really comfortable, aren’t at all!  And other times those really fancy looking chairs that look like they’d be torture to sit in, well they’re actually quite comfy!  Funny how that is.

The Way We Move

It’s been nearly three months since we’ve moved, and our new house is finally starting to feel like home.  I officially unpacked the last two boxes a couple of days ago.  It kind of makes me go hmmm…that even with how much stuff we gave away and tossed before we moved that we still have so much.

In any case, I’m glad it’s over with and this time we broke down and recycled the boxes, because it’s going to be a good long while before we think about moving again.

One of the places we’re considering is England. Both of us have been to Europe before, but neither one of us have been to the UK and we’d both really love to see London and the surrounding area.

Menacing Meals–Your Quick Guide to Food Dangers

The CDC estimates that 1 in 6 people get sick, are hospitalized or die from food poisoning every year in the United States.  I know I stayed away from cantaloupe last week, and you know it’s an issue when it makes its way into TV shows, like it listeria did on a recent episode of The Good Wife.

The post 9/11 effect on travel

We travel quite a bit here on Three Different Directions and just with our last vacation to Alaska in August we were commenting on how things have changed from leisurely to stressful.  In 2001 we traveled to Disneyworld less than a month after 9/11, and the heightened security everywhere we went was just the beginning.  I found this infographic very interesting about Osama vs Travel – The post 9/11 effect on travel.

Paying for College

Our daughter just started her sophomore year of high school.  That means applying for colleges is right around the corner.  She’s pretty bright and has been writing the ACT with high scores since she was 12, but the price tag of college has our hearts beating just a bit faster every month that passes.
