One of the things I’ve most enjoyed about my blog is the opportunities I’ve had to make and create family friendly recipes. While it is certainly easy to type some ingredients into a search engine or find ideas on brand websites one of my favorite sources of menu planning are magazines.

Menu ideas and recipes to tinker with are abundant in all kinds of magazines and I admit to having a few Magazine Subscriptions.

In general they take up much less space than cookbooks, and are usually quite a bit cheaper too, especially when you get a subscription.

It’s hard to believe that’s it’s been almost a year since we took our cruise to Alaska. I’m ready for another one, but with our impending move to Texas a vacation is going to be put on hold for a while.

It was so wonderful that my parents could join us and we were able to celebrate their 47th anniversary with them during that week. I wasn’t quite sure what to do for them, I mean what do you get someone who has a household of things collected over 47 years?!

Disneynature is the studio that has brought us many inspirational and informative films about the wildlife on our planet, including Earth, Oceans, and African Cats. It released its newest film last Earth Day, and now Chimpanzee is being released on DVD on August 21st for everyone to enjoy in their homes.

This movie follows the incredible story of a chimp named Oscar and his family as they travel through the African rain forest trying to survive.

I don’t know how many of you have been ‘keeping up’ with Shark Week over on the Discovery Channel, but if you have and you have children, I’m sure there has been many questions about them.

In the spirit of Shark Week, Disney’s best known sharks….Anchor, Bruce & Chum from Finding Nemo need to be told a very special message:

There is a new individually wrapped Kraft snack product that is out on the store shelves just in time for back to school lunches, and it’s a better snack option for kids!

I recently had the pleasure of trying Honey Maid’s newest creation, the Grahamfuls. If you’re not sure what they are, Grahamfuls are two long graham crackers with a layer of filling between them–and trust me, they’re delicious!

Well okay, I’ve never actually been told THAT, but I may as well have on numerous occasions. And I know plenty of other bloggers with engaged audiences, great writing skills, and passionate opinions who have come up against that wall too, all because they don’t have a gazillion unique views a month.

A lot of cookbooks aren’t really made for kids’ palates or picky eaters. If you’re a mom like me, with a family that has less than varied tastes, you have a repertoire of meals that are the same old, same old that you make all.the.time.

Food Family Style by Leigh Oliver Vickery, has a lot of recipes that will be crowd pleasers with all ages.

Every singe recipe I made, my family was happy with. I think a few of them were inhaled without really even chewing.

The Odd Life of Timothy Green opens tomorrow in theaters everywhere. Last week they rolled out the “green” carpet and had the premiere of the movie.

And look at ‘Timothy Green’ here, with a donation to Help a Life Grow, where they collected new men’s, women’s and children’s socks for families in need.
