This is perhaps the last cookbook you’ll ever need when hunting for a dish to take to a potluck.  Potluck Survival Guide: Care & Feeding of the Athletic Supporter, by Cherie Kimmons, has over 125, delicious and easy recipes for you to prepare to take to the next potluck you attend.

The book is also full of informational tips on how to prepare the ingredients, adjusting food quantities to the number of guests, making healthier versions of the recipes and suggestions for sneaking vegetables in. 

My dad has always been a hard worker, working at his 8 hour job, and then always working on the side for as long as I can remember.  When he retired, he never “really” stopped working, it was always a side job here or a little job there.

But I never really realized how much my dad’s “jack of all trades abilities” and his constant help meant to my family until we moved away.

All of a sudden we had to look for someone to do all the things that we knew we could call Dad for.  Or we had to learn ourselves!  Still it is always nice when Dad and Mom come for a visit, because Dad likes to stay busy (still….) and then we find things for him to do, like install pantry shelves or help assemble new furniture. 

I love snacking, and because of that I’m always on the lookout for healthy snacks.  That way I don’t feel guilty when the munchies strike, because I’m snacking on something good for me.  That’s why I was glad to find another healthy snack to add to my list; KIND.

I’ve been looking at sofas a lot lately.  when we moved into our home four years ago, we downsized by half.  It only made sense to take the newer sectional we had in our basement with us, instead of the 12 year old set we had in our living room at the time.

The thing is, I would have never purchased the set that we had in our basement, if I had known then that it would have ended up being in my main living area now.  (Clear as mud?! LOL).

As we say in our home, it’s Over!  The vote, the debate, the toilet paper…all of it!  That’s right Cottonelle asked millions of Americans what is the preferred (or in other words the “correct” lol!) way of rolling toilet paper, and the answer was…OVER!!  (All you “Under” people, quick change your rolls, before the toilet paper police come in and fine you!).

Before you outlay a lot of money for lunches from the school cafeteria or convenience foods, define what healthy means to you.  I know they are trying very hard at schools to ensure that the children receive a well balanced meal, but I met my daughter for lunch many days when she attended school and for many reasons a lot of the kids’ food was tossed in the garbage.  It could have been because of taste, selection or just not enough time to eat it, but whatever the case, if the food isn’t getting in them, they’re not getting a healthy lunch.

Another decision you need to make is whether you want to be eco-friendly and have your child take reusable items.  This is important because it is a bit more work on mom or dad’s end when making lunches, but also a responsibility issue for the child taking the lunch, as they have to remember to pack it all up and bring it home with them.

Here are some facts about Uncle Ben’s New Whole Grain White Rice:

It has the look, taste and texture of white rice, but is packed with whole grains (almost a full day’s worth in one serving).  The reality is most moms have a hard time getting their kids to eat “whole grain” anything (I can’t even get my Hubby to eat whole grains most of the time!).  If they see “wheat, or brown” anywhere on the packaging prior to mom cooking it, they’ll say they don’t like it even before they try it.
