The Montenegro Method – 21 Days to a Healthier Life

Whether you travel for business or pleasure, jet setting has its drawbacks.  Two of the first things that are neglected when traveling are exercise and diet, especially if you have a good routine going at home.  I personally don’t enjoy using hotel fitness rooms, and I know I don’t eat properly when away from home.  One way that you can help keep yourself on track with eating and exercise habits are Marta Montenegro’s recently released DVDs and Diet Guide.

The set of three DVDs called

Happy Father’s Day (No I’m NOT Late!)

credit: MarxchivistSo Amber is midway through her high school world geography course, and one of the things we’ve been enjoying most about it, is finding out interesting little facts about the countries that we were unaware of before.

She enjoyed learning about the Yucatan Peninsula (which she first heard about in the Pirates of the Caribbean books put out by Disney), and especially visiting some of the places she learned about in Spain and Portugal when we were there in April.

She hasn’t yet reached the chapters on

A Mom’s Wish

credit: empressofdirtHave you ever had one of those times where you wish you could do nothing but be in the backyard, in a hammock, looking out on your children running through the sprinkler and listen to them giggle and play, while reaching for your lemonade (that has a little umbrella in it!)?

Or maybe you’re more of a beach person, and would like to pack up the sunscreen and towels and build sandcastles and hunt for seashells with your kids everyday.

Twitter Moms and Staples are always on the look out to save you money when shopping for school and office supplies.  So they are asking the blogging community to share tips on how we save money when going back to school shopping.

Since we homeschool, we don’t have to get the “goods” right away for that “first day”, so we end up saving a lot throughout the year on supplies for schooling.  Here are some of my tips:

Portable Powermat for Techie Travelers

You’ll never find our TV tuned to ESPN and the first Sunday of February you will find our family playing WoW instead of watching the Superbowl.  If I get separated from my husband in the store, I’m never worried, because I know I’ll find him in the electronics section.

Combine a technology product with a travel product and you literally have my family drooling, I mean what’s better for a geeky family that’s always on the go, than a Portable Powermat?

Back to School #WithPurpose and DaySpring

Being homeschoolers, we’re able to take full advantage of purchasing our school supplies on clearance, since we don’t have to worry about having a backpack full of supplies for the “First Day of School”.

I remember when Amber attended public school, there were students who came with empty backpacks or the very barest of essential supplies.  Some with just a shopping bag to tote their few pencils in.  Attitude has a lot to do with achieving academically, and feeling embarrassed or of less worth because of economic hardship, is not something a child should need to deal with.

Ravens by George Dawes Green Giveaway

Ravens by George Dawes Green

Shaw and Romeo are heading down to Florida hoping to catch a fishing boat to Trinidad and leave their boring tech jobs in Ohio far behind them.

On a stop in a Georgia, Shaw is presented with the information that in this small town of Brunswick, a lotto ticket for $318,000,000 has been sold.  Shaw hatches a plan to come in to some of that money for himself and Romeo is, for lack of a better word, the back up plan.

Mini Blizzard……Mighty Good – Dairy Queen Giveaway

So Amber and I started our day out on Monday shopping for school supplies (more on that tomorrow).  When we were done I took her to Dairy Queen for a treat.  Really it was because of the power of suggestion…I was asked last week if I’d share the new Mini Blizzard from Dairy Queen with you all.  After watching the video embedded further down, plus checking out DQ’s website, I had
