Whether you travel for business or pleasure, jet setting has its drawbacks.  Two of the first things that are neglected when traveling are exercise and diet, especially if you have a good routine going at home.  I personally don’t enjoy using hotel fitness rooms, and I know I don’t eat properly when away from home.  One way that you can help keep yourself on track with eating and exercise habits are Marta Montenegro’s recently released DVDs and Diet Guide.

credit: MarxchivistSo Amber is midway through her high school world geography course, and one of the things we’ve been enjoying most about it, is finding out interesting little facts about the countries that we were unaware of before.

She enjoyed learning about the Yucatan Peninsula (which she first heard about in the Pirates of the Caribbean books put out by Disney), and especially visiting some of the places she learned about in Spain and Portugal when we were there in April.

Twitter Moms and Staples are always on the look out to save you money when shopping for school and office supplies.  So they are asking the blogging community to share tips on how we save money when going back to school shopping.

Since we homeschool, we don’t have to get the “goods” right away for that “first day”, so we end up saving a lot throughout the year on supplies for schooling.  Here are some of my tips:

Being homeschoolers, we’re able to take full advantage of purchasing our school supplies on clearance, since we don’t have to worry about having a backpack full of supplies for the “First Day of School”.

I remember when Amber attended public school, there were students who came with empty backpacks or the very barest of essential supplies.  Some with just a shopping bag to tote their few pencils in.  Attitude has a lot to do with achieving academically, and feeling embarrassed or of less worth because of economic hardship, is not something a child should need to deal with.
