So You Want to Go to Hawaii…

Well okay, maybe YOU don’t but I do!
That’s actually been a dream vacation of ours going back about ten years. Really it’s Amber who put the idea in our heads, when she was younger she really wanted to go to Hawaii, because she was sure she would meet Lilo and Stitch there. She kind of a had a bit of a ‘Stitch’ obsession at one point. Of course that was prior to Disney having a resort there.
Saving Money While Eating Out

I love food. There I said it. It’s true, I do! And as many of you know from my blog posts, I love trying out new food products as well. One of the other things I like to do is save money on food! Shopping with coupons is important to me, and I try and save as much as I can on our grocery bill.
We don’t eat out a lot, but when we do, I try and find Sunday insert coupons or online coupons to help with the bill. A couple of weeks ago we went to Red Lobster for dinner, and I had a $4.00 off coupon.
HP’s Back-to-School Technology at Walmart & Give Away

Since we homeschool, we’re responsible for all our curriculum and the things needed to educate our daughter (on top of paying our school taxes to the district!). This means that over the years we’ve purchased items and services that haven’t worked for us, and some that we’d recommend from the roof top for other families to use as well.
One of the biggest things we use in our school room is technology. Amber does much of her school work through DVDs, online programs, and of course I keep track of everything using software, and print out reports constantly to have on file.

You can get unique and fun paper products for Back to School with Tiny Prints.
When our daughter was in school my favorite thing to do was put little notes in her lunch box.
Banana NUT•rition Bites Recipe Featuring Planters Energy Mix

I believe in the nut•rition-al power of peanut butter. In my home there is no rationing of peanut butter, everyone can have as much as they like whenever they like.
I got some GOOD peanut butter the other day, new Planters NUT•rition Energy Mix, which features flavors like Banana Granola Nut, Berry Nut and Cinnamon Raisin Granola Nut.
New book: TurboCharged Recipes – More Than 400 Culinary Delights That Get You Lean and Healthy

As you can tell by most of the food products I review and recipes I make, we’re not obsessively concerned with fat and calories around our home. But quite honestly you can only eat that way so much, and I know I need to add more healthy recipes to my menu planning.
TurboCharged Recipes by sibling authors Dian Griesel, Ph.D. and Tom Griesel, is separated into categories which feature chapters with; beverages, dressings & dips, appetizers, soups & stews, salads, vegetarian, eggs, fish, meats, poultry and desserts.

Where I Get My Inspiration
One of the things I’ve most enjoyed about my blog is the opportunities I’ve had to make and create family friendly recipes. While it is certainly easy to type some ingredients into a search engine or find ideas on brand websites one of my favorite sources of menu planning are magazines.
Menu ideas and recipes to tinker with are abundant in all kinds of magazines and I admit to having a few Magazine Subscriptions.
In general they take up much less space than cookbooks, and are usually quite a bit cheaper too, especially when you get a subscription.
Happy 48th Anniversary to My Dad and Mom
It’s hard to believe that’s it’s been almost a year since we took our cruise to Alaska. I’m ready for another one, but with our impending move to Texas a vacation is going to be put on hold for a while.
It was so wonderful that my parents could join us and we were able to celebrate their 47th anniversary with them during that week. I wasn’t quite sure what to do for them, I mean what do you get someone who has a household of things collected over 47 years?!
