A Farmer’s Daughter Cook Book & Butterscotch Cookies Recipe

I grew up in a heavily populated Mennonite community, and while I am not Mennonite myself, I spent many, many hours around the table and in Mennonite kitchens. My best friend from third grade on was Mennonite, and one of my favorite foods to this day is Paska (Easter Bread) that her mom would make for me every year. I was just mentioning it to her this year that those loaves are some of my favorite memories of my tween/teen years.

Tiny Prints Holiday Cards Give Away

I’m already looking forward to the dozens of Christmas cards that we’ll receive that will ‘deck our halls’. With the busy lives we all lead, sometimes that’s the only correspondence I get from friends and family far away. It’s so wonderful to see their children, hear what they’ve been up to and cherish the memories I have of all those people every time I look at the card.

Naturally we also send our cards, usually with a family picture, sometimes with just one of our daughter, but either way, it takes me hours

DASANI DROPS

I KNOW the importance of being hydrated, unfortunately even though it is on my New Year’s Resolution List every year I suck at drinking water. Mostly it’s because I don’t like the taste (or lack thereof?) of water. I’m not ashamed to admit that I like flavor, and more accurately I drink my fluids in coffee, which sort of is counterproductive on the whole ‘hydration’ thing. And plain water…well has no flavor. So with the anticipation of once again needing to add “drink more water” to my list on January 1, I’m doing baby steps now so maybe by then I won’t have to.

Texas Sheet Cake – Celebrating Our Daughter with #CoolWhipFrosting ~ #CBias

Regular readers of my blog will know about our family’s ongoing saga of testing and moving with our high school aged daughter. For those of you who don’t…let me do a brief catch up for you!

We homeschool our 16 year old daughter Amber. She’s the kind of kid who when she gets interested in something, gets a little obsessed with it and focuses her energy into it hook, line and sinker. For her that happens to be video games, fantasy realms, writing and drawing.

OnPage: A Smart Phone Decision to Receive Your Important Messages Through Cellular or WiFi

I’ve only recently entered into the world of smart phones this year. Prior to getting it in February I had an old phone that I think could send and receive texts…but I didn’t have a clue how to do either with it. We first got that phone when our daughter started Kindergarten so that the school could get a hold of me in case of emergency and I was not at home. I think cell phones in general are feel like some sort of a safety net for Moms as a link to their children when they can’t be with them. And now I’m going to share an app and service that will keep important messages,

When I was a kid I had a friend whose father was a dentist.  We knew every year that when we trick-or-treated at her door that we’d get a toothbrush in our bag!
