So You Want to Go to Hawaii…

Well okay, maybe YOU don’t but I do!

That’s actually been a dream vacation of ours going back about ten years. Really it’s Amber who put the idea in our heads, when she was younger she really wanted to go to Hawaii, because she was sure she would meet Lilo and Stitch there. She kind of a had a bit of a ‘Stitch’ obsession at one point. Of course that was prior to Disney having a resort there.

Saving Money While Eating Out

I love food. There I said it. It’s true, I do! And as many of you know from my blog posts, I love trying out new food products as well. One of the other things I like to do is save money on food! Shopping with coupons is important to me, and I try and save as much as I can on our grocery bill.

We don’t eat out a lot, but when we do, I try and find Sunday insert coupons or online coupons to help with the bill. A couple of weeks ago we went to Red Lobster for dinner, and I had a $4.00 off coupon.

Where I Get My Inspiration

One of the things I’ve most enjoyed about my blog is the opportunities I’ve had to make and create family friendly recipes. While it is certainly easy to type some ingredients into a search engine or find ideas on brand websites one of my favorite sources of menu planning are magazines.

Menu ideas and recipes to tinker with are abundant in all kinds of magazines and I admit to having a few Magazine Subscriptions.

In general they take up much less space than cookbooks, and are usually quite a bit cheaper too, especially when you get a subscription.

Chicago, Teen Driving and The Allstate Foundation #60Summit

When you’re busy time flies. I can’t believe it’s already been two weeks since I was in Chicago to attend part of the #60Summit put on by The Allstate Foundation.

It was a whirlwind day and a half, where I learned so much from all the presentations and had a great time meeting some other bloggers as well as leaders in the industry of teens, driving safety, and public relations.

I’ll have more specific informational posts relating to Teen Driving, but let me tell you a bit about the fun I had in Chicago and the people I got to meet.

DR. SEUSS’ THE LORAX on 3D Blu-ray, Blu-ray and DVD

the lorax dvd coverThe Lorax was a book I remember reading as a child. When I heard that the creators of ‘Despicable Me’ (one of the best doggone animated movies. ever.) were making a movie based on the book, I was well…giddy. On Sunday evening, we got to curl up in our family room, pop the 3D DVD into our player, and see this movie for ourselves. It was charming. If you haven’t already seen it, well I so totally recommend it. Read what Amber, my 16 year old daughter, had to say about the movie below.

The Challenges and Joys of a Parent/Teacher Lifestyle

Teachers are well known for their dedication and the many extra hours of work they put into helping children to succeed. Parents also gain recognition for the many sacrifices that they make towards caring for their child’s physical, emotional and academic needs. So what happens when teachers become parents or vice versa?

Many people may wonder how it is possible for one person to dedicate their lives to so many. Others may express concern about how it is possible for a teacher to focus on the classroom when they have children on their own.
