Most moms can relate to family members who often can’t agree on anything.  One wants their food to have a bit of spice to it.  The other wants it ooey gooey.  One wants it hot, the other wants it cold.  You feel like a short order cook some nights and it’s usually the times when you need an easy dinner.  Now though you can satisfy all the taste buds whether it’s for adults or a kids meal with new Tyson Cheesy Chicken Nuggets and Spicy Chicken Nuggets. 

It’s been a long time since we’ve done any kind of Halloween Celebrations around our home, but I’m always up for creating – and so when I had the opportunity to come up with some ‘Spooky’ Halloween Recipes using 7Up, Hawaiian Punch and M&M’s, I was up for the challenge.

My love affair with coffee didn’t quite start out that way.  Actually I started drinking coffee to make a point rather than because I enjoyed the taste.  I was 15 and working at a summer job and one of my duties was to make the coffee for the office staff.  By golly, if I was going to make the stuff, I was going to drink the stuff.  And that’s how my obsession started.

Game day.  The TV is always on in our home.  We’ve been a little disappointed with the performance of our team (yes, we were Cowboys fans even before we moved to Dallas) as of late they’ve been leaving a bit of a sour taste in our mouth.  So on Sundays when the games are at noon, we like to make those games a tiny bit sweeter even when our ‘Boys’ are fumbling the ball.  Dessert for Brunch makes a great tailgating treat and this past week I made some Cake Batter Pancakes with Milky Way Bites that help take the sting out a bit when the Cowboys lose 😉

It’s been a month now since we’ve been using a lowest price rate plan with Walmart Family Mobile, on a second line that’s shared between my daughter and me.  Why the sharing you ask?  Well I have my own phone and a different plan, but international calling to Canada to keep in touch with my family is not so affordable on my plan.  So when I want to talk to my mom or my sister when I’m on the go, I’ve been using my daughter’s Concord phone on the Walmart Family Mobile plan to do so.

I try to meal plan I really do, but some weeks go better than others.  Okay, okay if I’m going to be honest, most weeks I start and my meal planning maybe gets up to Wednesday if I’m really lucky Thursday.  That leaves for a lot of unplanned meals in a week.  Having my pantry and freezer stocked with items from Sam’s Club helps.

If you’ve followed my blog for any length of time, you’ll know that it when it comes to food, I like easy.  That doesn’t mean I want to sacrifice taste, it just means I like short cuts.

When it comes to smart phones I’m a relative ‘newbie’ to the scene.  I only got my first smart phone a little over a year ago, and admittedly I became hooked rather fast on it.  I had an ‘okay’ phone, nothing fancy but got kind of starry eyed with the whole iPhone thing and then last December plunged into a prepaid deal where I bought the 4S up front out of pocket and then subscribed to the prepaid service.  I don’t have a contract…but my phone will only work with their service.  So it might as well be a contract, right?!

Spring, I think it missed us here in South Dakota.  We went straight from winter to summer.  From 0 degrees to 90 degrees just like that.  And isn’t it great that you can adjust your beverage drinking to accommodate those literally overnight weather fluctuations?!  Hot herbal teas to soothe the sore throats and aches and pains of winter, and an iced herbal tea to energize or relax in the warmth of a summer day.  I’m so glad that I have an assortment of boxes of Bigelow Tea to drink whatever the season might be.

I grew up in a home full of coffee drinkers and I started drinking coffee when I was 15.  But now I live in a home where I’m the only coffee drinker and brewing a whole pot of coffee (or even half a pot) for little ole me, just doesn’t make sense.  Not because I wouldn’t drink half a pot (or a whole one at that), but because I like my coffee brewed fresh. 

And this is my solution…

The conference bug has hit me…and I haven’t even left for my first one yet!!! It’s like EVERYONE has one – and which one do you go to? I originally chose Blissdom to be my first conference because I thought we’d live in the DFW area by next week….sigh…but here we are still waiting for our home to sell. And let me tell you, airfare is wicked expensive in our podunk city to fly anywhere. But enough of that I’m here to blog about the next conference I want to attend and that’s the
