I think if you’ve followed my blog for awhile, or at least have searched through my recipes on occassion, you’ll realize I’m not a “from scratch” type of gal.  I’m open to learning new things though, and so when I had the chance to review Homemade with Love: Simple Scratch Cooking from In Jennie’s Kitchen, I was eager to see if I could make anything in it without creating an epic fail of a dish.

Surprisingly enough to me, not only were a lot of the recipes not difficult – they were also things my family would eat – and so I hunkered down to mix, whisk and boil from scratch food in my own kitchen.  

My regular readers are probably tired of hearing about my impending move.  I don’t blame them, I’d rather be writing about my actual moving then my impending move too .  You know I’m all about the lowest interest rate we can get, and I’m sure you are too.  The one good thing about a significant lapse of time though in regards to moving is that during the time you sell and purchase another home, you can work on your credit score for your new mortgage.  Just how do you do that though?

Because of my petite size I have a difficult time finding age appropriate clothing that fits me.  I can shop in the Juniors department, but for my tastes the styles usually aren’t modest enough for my liking.

A couple of years ago I was fortunate enough to win a blog giveaway for a dress from Shabby Apple.  I even wore it to the Girls Night Out party for Blissdom this past weekend. 

If your young children enjoy music, you may want to check out the iOS iPad app called Mibblio.  It’s a fun introduction to some classic and new songs for ages 3-8, and your kids can participate by playing instruments and singing or reading along with the words.

The Mibblio app is free to download, and you can choose one “Mibblet” (what they call their musical story books) for free as well.  You can scroll through and view the summary of each Mibblet by clicking on the magnifying glass on each one before you choose the one you want.

Spring break is here (or for some of you anyway!), so kids get some time off from school.  If you don’t want your kids to completely veg out in front of the TV or computer but they still want a dose of technology and you have an iPad, download News-O-Matic.  This news app keeps kids in the know about current affairs, and they’ll think it’s neat to play around with and you’ll be pleased with the content.

I’ve mentioned on my blog before about how much I enjoy giving personalized gifts.  Whether it is birthdays, anniversaries or holiday occasions, it really acknowledges to the recipient that you put extra thought into what you picked out for them.  I also like gifts like these because I can take my time finding just the right picture/statement/sentiment for it at home by shopping online, and not feel rushed and pressured to choose something in the store.  One of the places I like for personalized cards is Treat.

My only special skills are being below average in height and being able to get out laundry stains, which doesn’t get me a place in line to audition for America’s Got Talent.  My husband is quite talented at playing video games (insert sarcastic wink here).

Neither one of us can draw worth diddly squat.  We don’t even attempt to play Pictionary, heck we fail miserably at hangman, so you can imagine our immense surprise to find out our combined genetic make up produced a daughter who has an amazing talent of drawing.

On Saturday, March 23 and Saturday, April 13, Lowe’s will be hosting special clinics featuring The Croods.  Children learn basic home improvement skills and build confidence while creating a free, wooden project they can take home.  Each participant also receives a free apron, goggles and a certificate of merit upon completion of their project.
