A Giant Surprise!

My only special skills are being below average in height and being able to get out laundry stains, which doesn’t get me a place in line to audition for America’s Got Talent.  My husband is quite talented at playing video games (insert sarcastic wink here).

Neither one of us can draw worth diddly squat.  We don’t even attempt to play Pictionary, heck we fail miserably at hangman, so you can imagine our immense surprise to find out our combined genetic make up produced a daughter who has an amazing talent of drawing.

She has always been attracted to crayons and colors.  Doodling on everything and anything that is available.  But I mean really every parent is a little biased when it comes to their own children.  Everything they draw or color is ‘incredible’ and ‘fantastic.’  Am I right?!  So we never told anyone about what we thought was talent, but surely was really only parental pride.  Until…

other people started noticing.  Some of them were even judges in contests.

Even more surprising…she’s entirely self-taught.  Everything she’s learned in regards to texture, shading, shadows, highlights, drawing body parts and scene scapes; she’s learned by researching herself online and through books.  So you can see, she’s really quite passionate about it too.

Here’s a one of her drawings that she’s done in Photoshop, and a video of a character she drew using a Drawsome Tablet for the Wii.
