As many of you know, this past summer we made a major move from South Dakota to Texas.  For the first time in our nearly 20 years of marriage we’re now living in a home that’s more than 7 years old.  The home we purchased was built in 1987.  What appealed to us about the home (besides the price, layout and location obviously), is that it the original owners were the ones selling it, and they maintained it pretty well.  They had just recently replaced the roof, furnace and air conditioner and not long before put in new kitchen counter tops and tile in the home.

With last year’s NSA revelations and the Target/Neiman Marcus credit card hacking incident the question of our right to privacy gets brought up again and again.  I don’t know what your feelings on privacy are, but I’ve been evaluating my own about it lately.

I know I would not be comfortable if I was selling something on Craig’s List to have them meet me at my own home.  Giving out personal information to anyone over the phone is not happening either.  And I’m very tight lipped about my comings and goings to anyone I don’t really know but who has my address.

Nearly 12 years ago I lost 30 pounds and I’ve managed to keep most of them off all these years.   But between turning 40 this past November and having lots of company between Thanksgiving and Christmas, those celebrations had me pack on a few pounds.  The thing is, I had NO motivation to do anything about them.  And I knew that put me in a bad place to add back another 25 more.

As the holidays wind down many people start worrying about how they are going to shed those pesky holiday pounds in the New Year.
