My daughter had a Star Wars party this year for her 16th birthday, where the kids had Star Wars potato chips, Yoda Soda and played Star Wars Monopoly and made some Darth Vader origami, I only wished we would have had these new Star Wars Fighter Pods for them to have played with too, they would have had a blast with them!

Back in the 1970s you would have found my siblings and I playing a popular Hasbro game where ever we went. I don’t know how many plastic pegs we lost while playing Battleship, but I do know that you it was not a good idea to leave the red and blue cases filled with your subs and aircraft carriers in the back seat on a hot summer day…yeah we had some melting occur!

Public Service Announcement – Mother’s Day is May 13th! (That’s in just two weeks by the way.)

Mom, she spent more on you than she did on herself, and you know it’s true because…well you do the same now too, right?! I know that the economy is rough for a lot of folks out there right now, but don’t skimp on mom, okay?

One of our stops every month is to the warehouse club. Even though there are only 3 of us in our family, there are certain things it just pays to buy in bulk.

In our home one of those things is cereal. Specifically Cheerios. Every time we go we buy a warehouse box. I always had to empty them into another container though when we got home because the bags and the boxes were just too big to store as is.

We’ve been a little ‘nuts’ around here this past week, and not just because my parents came to visit us. (JOKING MOM, joking!) Actually we’ve been eating snack nuts packed full of nutrition, healthy fats and fiber.

My parents are visiting this week to help us celebrate our daughter’s 16th birthday on Wednesday.

I love it when my Dad comes along with my Mom because he’s one of those guys that always needs to be doing something. So when we know he’s coming we save up all those little ‘fixes’ that need to be done around our home so he can be occupied while he’s here.
