I had the wonderful opportunity to review a Stainless Steel Digital Kitchen Scale from Surpahs.com.  Ever since I used the Weight Watchers program to lose over 30 pounds about 11 years ago, I’ve been in the habit of weighing my food to ensure a correct serving size.

I’ve been using this scale for a couple of weeks now and I love it.  It has many more functions than my previous kitchen scale did.  It’s constructed sturdily, looks sleek on my kitchen counter top (it’s just over 1/2 inch thick!), is easy to wipe down and clean and has four stable feet so it doesn’t slide around.

BLENDED marks the third comedy collaboration between stars Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore, following their successful onscreen pairings in the hit romantic comedies “50 First Dates” and “The Wedding Singer.”

It’s about time spring has arrived to most parts of the country, am I right?!  I was really shocked that last week when our friends flew in from South Dakota for our daughter’s graduation that they had to de-ice the plane on May 16th, that’s just craziness!

After a winter like this, most of us are ready for a change. Spring is a time for renewal and planning — for some wedding bells will soon ring, while buyers and sellers are anxious to get into a new home. Tax refunds may even spark the desire to buy a new car. Spring can be exciting, but major life events have insurance implications.

If you’re a regular reader of my blog, you’ll know I don’t tout myself in any way as a ‘healthy’ food blogger.  I definitely like discovering new healthier packaged foods that are on the market but I rarely make food from scratch, usually using convenient options instead.  I try and serve sweets and snacks in moderation but I’m not unaware of the fact that I have a long way to go when it comes to feeding my family a more wholesome and natural diet.

It has been a long, LONG winter for some of you.  I just saw pictures on Facebook yesterday where someone posted it snowing AGAIN (or maybe that would be still?!). 

A long winter has a two fold effect.  One it seems hard to stay healthy, especially once the cold breaks and allergies start flaring up.  And Two all the ‘hibernation’ pounds don’t want to leave for bathing suit season.

Mother’s Day is just a week and half away!  I’ve already got my Mom her gift, but I could with great confidence bet you that my daughter and/or husband have not yet purchased a gift for me.

They’ve done pretty good with suggestions in the past.  Like the time they got me a KitchenAid Ultra Power Tilt-Head Stand Mixer, or the year I received an Oster Waffle Maker, there was even the time they came up with the Keurig special edition brewer all on their own with no help from me!

I have enjoyed drinking the different teas from Mighty Leaf Tea for a while now You might remember back at Christmas time I highlighted a gift giving package perfect for the colder weather. And back in 2011 I shared about their Iced Tea. I always feel like I’m going on a taste adventure when I brew up a cup of Mighty Leaf Tea whether it’s hot or cold!

Over the years I have enjoyed many movie versions of the story of The Wizard of Oz.  On May 9th another fun Oz movie is being released, Legends of Oz: Dorothy’s Return.  This 3D-animated musical is based on the adventure books by Roger Stanton Baum, the great-grandson of L. Frank Baum. A continuation of one of the world’s most popular and beloved fairy tales, Legends of Oz finds Dorothy (Lea Michele) waking to post-tornado Kansas, only to be whisked back to Oz to try to save her old friends the Scarecrow (Dan Aykroyd), the Lion (Jim Belushi), the Tin Man (Kelsey Grammer) and Glinda (Bernadette Peters) from a devious new villain, the Jester (Martin Short).

I can hardly believe that in less than three weeks my baby is going to graduate! You could say that May is going to be Par-Tay month around here, as we’re planning on living it up from Mother’s Day to Memorial Day. But that also means that I’m going to need a bunch of stuff to get my home ready.

When you’re at the stage of life when your children start graduating high school, you look back at all the years and wonder if you’ve prepared them to be out on their own. We tend to focus on things like cooking and cleaning (and I can admit that we haven’t done too stellar in that aspect of teaching in our home), but it seems to me by listening to my daughter’s friends that many millenials haven’t been taught much financial management, if any at all. Seeing as there is a gap between men and women (even college educated ones) in the subject of financial literacy makes me want to give her an even bigger head start while she’s young.
