When I was in junior high school I had a friend whose dad was a phenomenal artist.  Her bedroom wall had an awesome mural on it that her dad hand painted.  When I’d go over to her place, I would just lay on her bed and stare at that wall.  I always wished I could have a mural like that on a wall in my room.

We’ve got to do some painting to some of the walls in our home, and as much as I’d love to do something grand, that’s just not a talent in my genetic makeup.  But I’m pretty confident I could apply a wallpaper mural.

February is often considered “Love” month because of Valentine’s Day, and while much of it is commercialized it does get us thinking about the ones we love, why we love them and HOW we love them.  It’s not just about getting a greeting card, candy or jewelry, but what we do to protect them as well.

For our family we’ve taken both small and large measures to protect each other.  From installing a monitored alarm system to just making sure that we have enough shelf stable food, water and supplies stocked in case of an emergency. 

Right now in our house it’s all about university.  Amber’s completed the scholarship hoops, has applied for housing, and is getting ready for orientation all amongst the actual graduation preparations in the works.  Phew, I get tired just thinking about it.

In the back of my head I’m also thinking about all the things she’ll need for her dorm room and studying (something I like to actually think she’ll be doing when she’s there).

If you’ve been a reader of my blog for any length of time, you’ve probably figured out by now that ‘easy’ and ‘simple’ are the way I roll.  I’m not big into time consuming recipes or beauty regimens, the quicker I can do something, the more frequently I’m going to do it.  That’s why although my skin is itchy and flakey (especially in winter) I’ll rarely stick to a lotion routine, because I have no patience to apply it to my body, rub it in, and wait until it’s no longer sticky or greasy before I get dressed.
