Rocky Road Ice Cream Sliders

Seriously, it is still SO HOT here in North Texas.  Sunday it was 106 degrees!  We saw rain for the first time in over a month on Labor Day, and I’m so ready for a cool breeze.  Give me a few years and I’ll likely be used to it, but right now this northern girl is M.E.L.T.I.N.G.

We’ve been attending a church with Saturday evening services since we moved, which is an awesome thing because my husband works on Sunday mornings, so we can go to church as a family and worship together.  We’ve been hitting up the 7-Eleven or Marble Slab Creamery on the way home each week for either Sluprees or ice cream.

Summer Popsicle Recipes

In case some of you haven’t been watching the national weather, it’s HOT here in Texas!  Since our family seems to get caught up in Murphy’s Law more often than not, it’s really no surprise that not only did it work out that we moved here smack dab in the middle of July, but that there would be a heat wave going on too!  The other day it soared up to temperatures where the heat index hit 108!

Chocolate Almond S’mores

Fisher Nuts asked me to find a simple way to freshen up a summer recipe and take my cuisine to a new level.

So they sent me a cooking with nuts pack so I could create my own summer recipe.  Nothing says summer like s’mores. Am I right?!

BUT, I don’t have a fire pit or chimenea to roast my marshmallows in, AND, I want to not just highlight some Fisher Nuts in these s’mores but make them a bit more “grown up” too…

Irish Cream Swirl Brownies for St. Patrick’s Day

Irish Cream Swirl Brownies

The one thing that’s great about the holidays, is that you end up making seasonal food that wouldn’t be on your radar otherwise. When it comes to St. Patrick’s Day one immediately conjures up food recipes that are green and/or have booze.

Thanks to the McCormick Kitchen experts, I tried my hand at a St. Patrick’s Day goody, which incorporates both the green and the booze (well in my case at least the flavor of the booze LOL!). It’s a festive creation to pull out for dessert on March 17th.

Paska – a Traditional Easter Bread, Made Easy for Busy Moms

I grew up in a community that had a strong Mennonite/German population, many of whom immigrated from Eastern Europe. A staple traditional recipe in those homes at Easter time is Paska, which is a sweet bread.

My childhood best friend’s mom, made a loaf of Paska just for me each year. When we graduated from high school, a family friend took over when she found out how much I loved it. Then when I got married, my sister-in-law made it for me. And then we moved from Canada to the U.S. and my supply chain of Paska….stopped!

Petite Treats: Your Favorite Desserts—Bite Size!

I’m not exactly sure why, but everyone loves anything that’s “mini”! Great desserts like cupcakes, cake pops, bite sized cookies, petit fours. Maybe it’s because you feel like you can try more that way, or you convince yourself it has less calories 😉 Or maybe it’s just because they are so cute! But whatever the reason, petite treats are generally a hit!

Petite Treats is a great recipe book to get you on your way to making smaller versions of enjoyable desserts. Your inner sweet tooth is going to go crazy over it.

Texas Sheet Cake – Celebrating Our Daughter with #CoolWhipFrosting ~ #CBias

Regular readers of my blog will know about our family’s ongoing saga of testing and moving with our high school aged daughter. For those of you who don’t…let me do a brief catch up for you!

We homeschool our 16 year old daughter Amber. She’s the kind of kid who when she gets interested in something, gets a little obsessed with it and focuses her energy into it hook, line and sinker. For her that happens to be video games, fantasy realms, writing and drawing.
