Sharing is an important lesson for young children to learn, but not when it comes to germs.
Children can touch and retouch over 300 surfaces in just 30 minutes! To encourage healthier environments, Softsoap liquid hand soap and the NACCP have partnered to educate families on how to prevent the spread of germs and illness among children.
Proper hand washing is one of the most important preventtive measures to help children avoid getting sick and spreading illness to others.
You can teach your children “hand washing moments”, such as before eating meals, so it becomes a habit, and also to:
* Refrain from touching the eyes and mouth
* Sneeze or cough into their inner elbow
* Frequently and properly wash their hands with soap and water
Proper hand washing techniques include washing hands with soap and warm water for 20 secnds, which can be a difficult and feel like a long task for children. To help teach children this practice, Softsoap has teamed up with the APHA to feature “Get Ready” hand washing timers that easily attach directly to Softsoap soap pumps. When pressed, the timers play a fun song for 20 seconds, helping children stay engaged to get hands clean and wash away germs.
The niftiest thing about the hand washing is that it also fits on top of the ‘foaming’ dispenser pumps, which are ideal to place in bathrooms and kitchens with young children. This prevents the problem of children pumping too much soap on their hands, as the soap dispenses out foam in just the right amount for smaller hands.
To make hand washing seem even more fun and not quite so much a chore, pick up a Kids Foam in fun scents like the Berry Foam Works or in your children’s favorite characters like Sponge Bob or Dora.
Our daughter loves the foam dispensers far more than liquid soap. It’s great because it has a nice large pump which makes it easy for children to press down on. Adding a timer ensures that hand washing doesn’t turn into a “swipe and wipe” as we call it (swiping the hands under the water stream, and wiping them quickly on the towel!).
