Cold and flu season are here, and I’m so busy I can’t afford to get sick. I’m sure you feel the same way. And while I’m sure you have your own reasons why you just can’t be ill, I thought you might get a laugh out of some of the ones that I was sent in an e-mail:

We travel a lot, and I have a huge paranoia of bedbugs.  I am that person, who checks behind the mattress by the headboard, and won’t leave my luggage on the ground in a hotel room.  Fortunately in all the years I’ve traveled, I haven’t encountered any, but that won’t keep me from checking before I lay down on a strange bed.

Some of the most wonderful memories we make in our lifetime happen during the holidays, but according to studies 17 children go to the ER every minute for unnecessary injuries, and the number only increases during the holiday season!  It makes a lot of sense why the number increases, bright lights entrance, the flickering of the fire and/or candles intrigue, and maybe even because some of the electrical decorations we only take

Money savings during the holidays often come in the form of reusing old decorations, shopping at thrift stores or deep discounters, and celebrating and cooking more at home. But if not done carefully, seemingly cheerful activities could quickly put a damper on holiday spirits.

Here are a few tips that I posted last year, but felt I should post again for readers to keep in mind while doing holiday decorating:

1) If you decorate using a real tree – A fresh tree is key:  If the needles are not fresh, it can lead to a greater risk of fire. Remember to ask your tree lot attendant to make a fresh cut to the base of the tree and place it in water as soon as you get home. Place tree in a tree stand that holds at least one gallon of water and check moisture level frequently.
