In 2010, when I was 36, my doctor referred me to have a mammogram done.  He said I needed a base line, my insurance covered it, and there was no reason not to have it done.  I didn’t want to and have no familial history of breast cancer, but the imaging center was close to my home and I was assured that it would not take long, so I kept my appointment and went.  The films all looked fine, I filed away the experience and went on with my life.

During this month of October I’m sure that you’ve read about many companies that are choosing to donate money to various foundations that support breast cancer research, awareness and the women affected by the disease.  I featured just a select few back in August when I had my “Cancer Research Awareness” week, after our Girl Scout Troop participated in “Relay For Life”.

Today I’m sharing about Dannon’s “Give Hope With Every Cup” campaign.  Throughout September and October, a variety of Dannon products will help support the cause, not only by raising money, but also by increasing awareness for a disease that affects women and families at a staggering rate – with more than 290,000 women diagnosed every year. 

I’m a big supporter of cat napping.  If I get a chance to nap during the day, well I’m all over it, I can give any ‘cat’ a run for their money in the napping department!

BJ’s Wholesale Club, along with its vendor partners like P&G, are collaborating for the 5th consecutive year to raise money for cancer research and treatment centers. Both companies are avid supporters of breast cancer awareness and this partnership is an extension of the belief that together, we can all contribute to finding a cure.

I wished I would have had this information when I ran my Cancer Awareness week at the beginning of August.  I think it’s worth sharing though, even without a ‘themed’ week.

Cervical Cancer is the second most common type of cancer found in women worldwide.  Even some women whose Paps appear normal are suddenly diagnosed with invasive cervical cancer. 

The thing is, it can be prevented.
