This whole high school graduation season of life has been so busy AND so much fun for us. It was ALL about Amber. She had a great time hanging out with long time and new friends, reminiscing about her school years and eating and doing all the things she liked. Amber’s always been fond of Kool-Aid fruit drinks so when I was shopping at Walmart for her graduation open house party, I made sure to pick up the new 96 oz. bottles of Kool-Aid.
So that we’d have a variety of flavor choices for everyone I bought all three; Fruit Punch, Grape and Watermelon.
With all the other busyness going on those days before the open house party and commencement ceremony this mom was thrilled to be able to get Kool-Aid that is ready to serve. These are full of that nostalgic “Oh, Yeaahh!” flavor you remember from your childhood. What a great beverage option to #KoolOff with at an outdoor summer celebration.
Amber also wanted cupcakes for a party dessert. Since we homeschooled her she didn’t really have “school colors” so I thought it would be fun to make cupcakes in the colors of the university she’ll be attending – green and orange.
I keep a supply of cake mixes in our pantry and had a green velvet one, but nothing orange. So when I bought the new ready to serve Kool-Aid drinks I also got some Kool-Aid Peach Mango powdered mix from the same center display to add to a white cake mix.
It’s so easy and fun to add a little flavor and color to a white cake mix with Kool-Aid. Just add 1/2 cup of the sweetened powdered mix or one package of the unsweetened mix to your cake mix. You can add it to white vanilla frosting too.
Imagine the combination possibilities.
Amber loved how they turned out and they tasted awesome too!
What about you? I want to know what my readers’ #CollectiveBias on Kool-Aid drinks is! How would you incorporate Kool-Aid into an outdoor summer gathering?
And speaking of the outdoors…
Jim Dillard, pro fisherman, could be coming to your local Walmart to help promote the new 96oz Kool-Aid bottles! There will be product giveaways, t-shirts, games, and more fun activities!

Everyone I know grew up on Kool-Aid. We had what my husband calls "sugar aid" while my kids are growing up on the sugar free stuff. Add a little to a vanilla milkshake to get a cool new flavor.
The cupcakes look adorable. Congrats to Amber, and happy summer to you 🙂
Using Kool Aid in cupcakes is such a creative idea and something I wouldn't have thought of!
I'm all for this! Cupcakes and kool-aid, what could be better!
What a great way to use Kool-aid and love that it comes premade.
Those turned out yummy! I love Kool-Aid but I always add a little extra sugar when I make it. Wonder if the premade would be sweet enough for me.
Oooh I never would have thought about putting it in cupcakes. Yum! I loved Kool-aid as a kid, and my boys love it now.
Those cupcakes came out great! So pretty! Happy Summer!
I'd add it to some lemon-lime soda and sherbet ice cream for an awesome punch. Love this idea to make the cupcakes just a little more special!

I haven't had Kool-Aid in years! Those cupcakes look so good, and I love the fun colors!!!
I've used Kool-aid to flavor pie before, but not cupcakes. I'll have to try that too! I'm glad you've been enjoying the grad festivities so much!
I love the new 96oz bottles, they last forever in our household. I like to fill a glass with ice and it cuts back on the sugar just a little! #Kool-Aid
