If you can read this, thank a teacher. I know is an over used cliche line but it’s true, to its very core. That teacher may have been a kindergarten teacher, a resource aid, or maybe even your mother. But someone taught you how to read, and may not ever have been thanked for it.
Too often we justify our lack of thanks by saying “It’s their job, they get paid to do it”, or “That’s what they signed up for”. But more often than not, teachers go beyond their paycheck and encourage, inspire and instill far beyond the 2+2, ABCs and the Periodic Table.
