Women’s health is the cornerstone of all healthy communities. Unfortunately, due to gender and racial bias in medicine, women are less likely to have pain treated, symptoms taken seriously, or given a diagnosis, which can have serious implications. A staggering 1 in 8 women are diagnosed with breast cancer, and 1 in 3 of those will be metastatic. Cardiovascular disease is the number one killer of women, causing 1 in 3 deaths of women each year. That’s approximately one death every minute. Furthermore, 1 in 10 women suffers with endometriosis, a disease that occurs when tissue similar to the lining of the uterus, the endometrium, is found outside of the uterus, where the tissue does not belong.
Teneral Cellars is creating a social movement through exceptional wine and thought-provoking experiences. They are the only 100% women-owned and operated brand that sells strictly online and donates 10% of profits to women’s causes. Teneral Cellars recently launched their “Healthy Women, Healthy World Wine Collection” which supports the Endometriosis Foundation of America.
The new releases focus on elevating women and inspiring change to put health first. The Healthy Women, Healthy World Collection features a trio of wines that bring attention to reproductive, heart and breast health issues that affect millions of women globally. With every three-pack sold, $10 will be donated to the Endometriosis Foundation of America (EndoFound). The collection speaks to the brand’s core mission to elevate women and inspire change, encouraging women to focus on their own health and take care of each other so that no one is neglected.
Top Chef host Padma Lakshmi, diagnosed with endometriosis herself and co-founder of EndoFound with Dr. Tamer Secklin, has paired recipes with the Healthy Women, Healthy World wines. The collection includes an opulent Claret (Bordeaux Blend), a bold Petite Sirah and a vibrant White Blend. The amazing labels for each bottle are exclusively designed by female artists.
The Healthy Women, Healthy World Wine Collection includes:
1 IN 10 ~ 2020 WHITE WINE BLEND
Loaded with vibrant Meyer Lemon, Golden Delicious Apple, and White Peach, the pervasive, tangy acidity is matched with custard and honeysuckle, and fresh herbs on the finish. This bright wine will serve as an ideal aperitif, whetting the appetite before a great meal or just a great go-to glass of wine on the porch or at the pool.
1 IN 3 ~ 2019 PETITE SIRAH
Don’t let the word Petite mislead you! This wine packs a punch of powerful black pepper, blackberry, black currant, black olive, clove and smoke. These dark, brooding flavors are matched with grippy tannins that are balanced by a silky texture and mouth watering acidity. This wine begs for braised meat!
1 IN 8 ~ CLARET, BORDEAUX RED BLEND
This opulent Bordeaux blend expresses both power and grace; rich blackberry and cassis are matched with dark chocolate, tobacco and cedar. Rich oak notes of vanilla and baking spice round out the flavors. Firm tannins give the wine its solid structure but they become silky on the palate once the succulent acidity kicks in.
I love that Teneral Cellars is shining a light on women’s health. I am passionate about these important wellness issues because my mother-in-law passed from heart disease, and my mother is currently battling metastatic endometrial cancer.
The tasting notes were spot on for the 1 IN 10, and it was a perfect wine to serve for our Girls’ Night In last week. What better way to spend an evening with your best gals than to sip wine that is supporting women’s health?! So not only am I enjoying the taste and flavor of the wines in this Healthy Women, Healthy World Wine Collection, I am sipping with purpose since every time someone purchases them $10 is donated to a charity that is dear to me.
