In my efforts to clean out my pantry and freezers before we move, I’m getting very creative with the contents inside them!
I’m not a fan of drinking milk straight up or having it with my cereal either, but add it to a smoothie and I’ll toss it back. Armed with a box of Strawberry Delight Mini Wheats and some frozen strawberries I decided to try making a smoothie and see how it turned out.
I thought it was pretty good – not too sweet, but it had enough strawberry flavor. If you’re not a fan of pulp in orange juice this probably wouldn’t be a smoothie to make, because even though I blended it quite a bit, not all the shredded wheat gets broken up, and so it has a pulpy texture to it, especially towards the end of the glass. It did seem to keep me full for a good while and the whole grain cereal adds a bit of ‘heft’ to the smoothie and adds some extra oomph.
Strawberry Delight Shredded Wheat Smoothie

1/2 cup of Strawberry Delight Mini Wheats
1 cup frozen strawberries
1 cup milk
Blend together until all the strawberries and Mini Wheats are smooth.

The idea for this smoothie was sparked by a recipe in Homemade With Love by Jennifer Perillo.
