I received a SONIC gift card to purchase pretzel dogs and facilitate this post. Any opinions stated are my own.
This summer SONIC Drive-In is bringing a twist to the classic hot dog with Pretzel Dogs. Guests can choose between the Cheesy Bacon Pretzel Dog or The Original topped with classic mustard. What can I say except — two favorites in one! Hot Dogs and Pretzels 🙂 Add tots or fries a frozen drink or limeade and you have yourself a tasty, filling and affordable meal.
“For 64 years, guests have been coming to SONIC to experience evolving and iconic menu items, including Pretzel Dogs, the distinctive twist of classic flavors and current culinary trends,” said Scott Uehlein, vice president of product innovation and development at SONIC. “With so many choosing SONIC to satisfy their hot dog cravings, welcoming Pretzel Dogs back to the lineup is the perfect way to kick off summer at the drive-in.”
The Cheesy Bacon Pretzel Dog made with a premium beef hot dog topped with melty cheese, crispy bacon and grilled onions in a warm pretzel bun.
There were a bit many grilled onions on the dog for my liking, but the excess was easy enough to scrape off. Other than that small bit, the Cheesy Bacon Pretzel Dog was delicious!!
The toppings are the king for me on the Cheesy Bacon Pretzel Dog but the Original is a good choice for someone say … like my husband (LOL) who prefers his hot dog with less ‘stuff’ 😉
The Original is topped with classic mustard and also nestled in a warm pretzel bun.
I have to say I really enjoy the pretzel bun as a switch from a regular hot dog bun.
The value of $2.69 for the Cheesy Bacon and $2.29 for the Original is totally worth the price. The 40 extra cents is virtually nothing for the upgrade considering the amount of bacon that’s on that dog! I’d definitely buy the Cheesy Bacon Pretzel Dog again. It would be kind of great if they’d keep them on their regular menu.. just saying 😉
The two delicious Pretzel Dogs are only available for a limited time, so don’t miss out on visiting your SONIC Drive In and snagging yourself one before they are gone.
