S’mores Magic Cookie Bars | Inspired by Dessert Mash-Ups

We’ve all said it right?  That we have two things that taste SO good that the ultimate dessert would be to mash them up and create one dessert of both… well Dorothy Kern from Crazy For Crust has done it – she’s authored a book with all your favorite treats combined together and it’s appropriately named Dessert Mash-Ups.

The recipes inside the pages of this book will make you want to immediately break out your pans and mixers and get to work in your kitchen, making every. single. one. of them, and THEN using your own ideas to make them uniquely yours!

The full-color cookbook has 52 inspiring recipes, a couple of which inspired my recipe today the S’mores Magic Bars.  Dorothy has a wonderful Cookies ‘N’ Cream Magic Bar Pie recipe in Dessert Mash-Ups plus she has some S’more Cookies, and I had some sweetened condensed milk, mini chocolate chips & marshmallows just begging to be used.  So I dessert mashed-up Cookies, Magic Bars and S’mores! <– Who’d a thunk it?!  Well thanks to Dorothy Kern and her Dessert Mash-Ups…I did!

And so while the ingredients are different and so is the pan I made it in (hence bars instead of a pie) – the idea wholly came from her recipe – which is I think what she encourages her fans to do, take her recipes and then leap off to create your own.

S’mores Magic Cookie Bars

• 1/2 cup butter, melted
• 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
• 1 14oz can fat-free sweetened condensed milk
• 1 1/2 cups mini semi-sweet chocolate chips
• miniature marshmallows

Heat oven to 350 degrees F (325 degrees for glass dish). Coat 13×9-inch baking pan with no-stick cooking spray.

Combine graham cracker crumbs and butter. Press into bottom of prepared pan. Pour sweetened condensed milk evenly over crumb mixture. Spread chocolate chips evenly over the milk. Press down with a fork.

Bake for 20 minutes, then take the pan out, cover with mini marshmallows and return to the oven for the last 5 minutes.  Cool completely, cut and serve.

One dessert is good, two desserts are better, but a doubly delicious mash-up of both into one mouthwatering concoction is a dream come true!

With “Dessert Mash-Ups,” you’ll enjoy two-in-one treats from morning to night with Blueberry Muffin Waffles, Pumpkin Cheesecake French Toast, Mint Chip Truffles, Turtle Pudding Pie, Strawberry Pie Cupcakes, Brownie Peppermint Bark and much, much more.

The step-by-step instructions and gorgeous photos from Dorothy Kern, the mastermind behind the blog Crazy for Crust, make it easy to create all the scrumptious, crowd-pleasing treats in “Dessert Mash-Ups.”

Trust me, your taste buds (maybe not your waistline though!) will thank me for recommending this cookbook 😉
