Silicone Kitchen & BBQ Gloves Review

Being very petite reaching in and out of the oven has always been a challenge for me.  I’ve burned myself more times than I care to admit, both because of the length (or rather lack thereof) of my arms and due to not being careful enough.  Grilling is a whole other adventure with my stature!  Most oven mitts are too large for my tiny hands and because of a circulation disorder I have there are times I am unable to get a good grip on things I am holding or carrying.

I’ve been looking at getting a pair of silicone oven mitts, and then I had the chance to review these Silicone Kitchen & BBQ Gloves so I thought I’d give them a try.

The gloves have a great grippy texture to them featuring little hearts as a pattern on them.  Again because my hands are tiny they are a bit large on me, but still they fit better than a pair of oven mitts do on my small hands.  But because they are gloves and have the grip texture, even though they are a bit large for my hands, I am truly able to better carry/remove pans & dishes, plus protect my hands when cooking and baking.

For the most part I feel they’re a step up from traditional oven mitts.  I did feel the heat coming through them once when I removed a stoneware baking dish that had been in the oven for an hour and a half baking up some chicken.  I presume I would have had the same issue (or worse) with cloth oven mitts, so I wasn’t concerned.  I didn’t burn myself or anything but I did deposit the dish on a cooling rack as quickly as I could.

They are in fact much easier to clean than oven mitts if you get them dirty.  Simply wipe them down (no need to throw them in the washing machine and worry about seams and linings coming apart) or put them in the dishwasher (although that is an option it seems counter intuitive to me as you’d have to dry the insides of the glove…).

All in all I’m pretty happy with these Silicone Kitchen & BBQ Gloves, despite the fact that they are a bit too big for my small hands, they do the job they are supposed to and make placing and removing items in my oven a safer task for me.

I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

  1. I have tried some similar to these and they worked great. It still seems strange to use rubber to grab something hot. You would think it would melt.

  2. I've thought of getting something similar to these as I do a lot of cooking (not mentioning I get burned a lot). I'll definitely have to check these out!

  3. I have never grilled, but I can definitely use something like this in the kitchen. I've accidentally burnt myself way too many times!
