This past week I ate through three bags of Peeled Snacks. This was my first time trying them. I liked the first bag. And the second. And the third. In fact, I’ve pretty much come to the conclusion that I’m going to have to get a Subscribe and Save plan through Amazon.com for these. I have become an addict. Or I’ll have to feed my coffee addiction at the same time and go to Starbucks and pick them up. Good thing there is one right around the corner from my place .
First of all, Peeled Snacks is just fruit. These are not your traditional dried fruit pouches with a bunch of sugar, plus some look good additives. Oh, no. These are just gently dried organic fruit. No sugar; but you don’t need it, there is so much flavor from the natural fruit it’s not missing. at. all. You can get pouches of just one fruit, or blends of complementary kinds, whose flavors enhance each other.
I found when opening the first package (Paradise Found: a mix of organic mango, pineapple & banana) that they look a lot different than your typical dried fruit. However, remember I said there is nothing but the fruit. Right. So you know what happens to bananas when they are left to dry…that’s right they turn brown. Yet when you buy banana chips, while they aren’t yellow, they certainly aren’t brown. So I was okay with the appearance, although normally I probably wouldn’t have tried them if I didn’t know. Man, they were good…especially the bananas.
I was most interested in the GoFigure mix I was sent; a mix of organic figs, dates and apricots. They all sounded so good, so perfect! And when I tasted it, well the wow factor was sitting on my tongue. It was good. Totally my thing – I love Mediterranean food.
Then I tried the Farmer’s Market Trio, “organic raisins, apples & cherries”. So simple. Such a beautiful mix of fruit. It is sweet, but also sour. (Actually I’m not sure sour is the exact word I’m looking for, maybe ‘tangy’ but it’s not quite that either LOL.) Raisins and cherries taste great together, and the apples only added to the flavor mix. This bag, I hate to admit, didn’t last an afternoon.
Peeled Snacks are so good for you too. They have no trans fat, no cholesterol and no added sugar. You can read all of the ingredients, because they only have the words “organic” followed by “whatever fruit is in the pouch”.
Whose Easter basket is this good for?
EVERYONE’S! But be advised: Peeled Snacks are addictive. Those jelly beans and Peeps you purchased, just might get put aside. Filling an Easter basket with these will do you and your family better anyway.
Mother’s Day Ideas
Peeled Snacks are sold in a variety of samplers. You know what Mom likes best, so get her some of that, but think outside the box too, and be adventurous and also get her a flavor she wouldn’t normally choose herself. These would be great to put together in a basket with some organic crackers and cheese.
Peeled Snacks can be found at Starbucks locations nationwide, as well as other retailers and online at Peeled Snacks.
One reader will win Peeled Snacks Organic Fruit Pouches to try for themselves.
