Raisels are a new, healthier alternative to candy from the National Raisin Company – a family-owned and operated company.
Raisels are fruity flavored raisins and the first 100% real fruit snack that actually tastes like candy. They can be found in your grocer’s dried fruit section. They come in four flavors; Sour Apple, Sour Orange, Sour Lemon and Sour Peach, and are available in six packs of 1.25 oz boxes.
They are rich in antioxidants, fat free, cholesterol free and 100% US RDA for Vitamin C. Raisels have NO sodium, hfcs, or artificial sweeteners. That being said, the number two ingredient on the list of Raisels is sugar coming in at 23 grams per serving. That is less though then Craisins (sweetened dried cranberries) which have 26 grams per serving (the sugar content taken right off the package of Craisins that is in our cupboard right now). To learn more about the sugar content in Raisels visit ‘Raisels and Sugar’.
We got to try Raisels on our home, and we really found them ‘sour-licious’! For myself personally, I’m not a ‘pucker up’ type of person, and found the Sour Peach most to my liking. It did have a tinge of sour but the sweet peach taste came out just as much. Surprisingly the Sour Apple did manage to give me a funny face! I expected that one to be less sour than the lemon or orange seeing as those are citrus fruits and have a bit of ‘sour’ to them to begin with.
My daughter isn’t overly fond of raisins, so I thought that Raisels might be a hit with her. By themselves, not so much, but I’m thinking they’ll be much more to her liking in a ‘mix’ of pretzels and cereals.
