One of the reasons we love our family living area is because of the floor to ceiling brick fireplace. And even though the fireplace itself doesn’t get much use because we live in Texas, it’s a architectual piece that anchors the room. This is the fourth home we’ve lived in and the only other home that had a fireplace, it was in the basement which we never used. Last year was the first Christmas in this home and I didn’t take advantage of decorating the hearth like I could have. This year though, I went all out.
With Christmas literally just two weeks away, now is the time you want to order those fresh wreaths and garlands to decorate both your indoor and outdoor living spaces. ProFlowers sent me at no charge, their Napa Valley Wreath & 12 ft. Garland Bundle to use in my home. These pieces are simply and elegantly beautiful.
I was a little worried at first as I’ve never had a live wreath or garland before, but well laid out instructions came with them in regards to both hanging and caring for them.
Despite the fact that UPS was less than careful with the box, the wreath was still splendid when we pulled it out. The 22″ size is perfect for above our fireplace. The greenery is complemented with the different types intertwined which include Noble Fir, Red Western Cedar, Salal, and Variegated boxwood.
The added décor to the wreath (pinecones, faux pomegranates and berries) are noticeable but tasteful, with the burgundy bow not overwhelming or taking away from the wreath in any way. And while we already had a nail to hang it on our brick face, a metal wreath hanger is included for you to hang it on a door.
I was completley unprepared with how heavy a 12 ft. garland of evergreen actually is!
To make the 12 ft. garland shine a bit more for the holidays, we wrapped a 16 ft. strand of indoor/outdoor LED white lights around it, and then only needed to fluff up the branches a little bit. You’ll want to make sure they are LED lights if you do this with real garland because the LEDs don’t heat up and you need to make sure they are outdoor rated because to care for the garland you’ll have to mist it with water, and the outdoor light rating will be able to handle that.
The simple, rustic beauty of the natural evergreen farmed right here in the United States adds just the right touch to our mantle. We added a few LED candles to nestle around it and it is gorgeous when the sitting room lights are dimmed.
Beautiful, right? (I’m a little sad already that I’m going to have to eventually take it all down! My husband asked if we could keep the wreath up there all year, LOL!) And the fresh scent of the evergreen, oh it just SMELLS like Christmas in my home when we mist the wreath and garland! I love it!
I would not hesitate to purchase a fresh wreath and/or garland from ProFlowers.com for our hearth next year.
