Pasta Boat Review

We eat a ‘boat’load of pasta in our home, so I have been intrigued by the Pasta Boat from the first time I saw it on a TV commercial. The honest truth is I hate bringing out the pot, waiting for the water to boil, then use a colander to strain it, for a box of macaroni and cheese. It just takes so much time and a lot of dishes.

And that’s why I love the Pasta Boat – no waiting for water to boil, one container to cook, drain and serve in! Using the microwave to cook your noodles is so much more economic too.

It’s easy to do too, which means your kids can help right along with you, or make it themselves. Pour the number of servings of pasta you want (according to the pasta box or bag) and then add water to the line indicated on the Pasta Boat. That’s it! Then the handy guide that comes with the Pasta Boat will let you know how long to cook it for. Microwave ovens vary in power and it might take a couple of times to get your noodles cooked the way you like, trial and error, but it’s not a big deal. I followed the instructions the first time, and the pasta was a little over cooked, but then I knew to adjust it.

I was a little concerned that when I made a full 8 servings of pasta in the Pasta Boat that it would overflow in the microwave and make a mess. But it didn’t. I was watching it the whole time the first time I made it and it never boiled over. The handles on the side (that also double as dry spaghetti measures) – stay cool in the microwave so when it’s time to take it out, you don’t need oven mitts or pot holders to pick it up.

Simply put the lid back on and strain it through the strainer, then take the lid off, and you’re ready to serve it…all in the same container! And should you have leftovers, you can store it in it as well.

Pasta Boat also comes with a steamer insert so you can steam vegetables in it too. A healthy way to cook carrots, beans, potatoes and all your favorites.

This would be a fabulous item to purchase if you have a child going off to college this year. Forget those little single serving cups of ramen noodles – now they (and their roommate!) can have a more substantial and healthy meal.

You can find out more about the Pasta Boat and purchase it online at www.PastaBoat.com as well as major retailers such as Amazon.com, Bed Bath & Beyond, CVS, and WalMart.

  1. Cool. I also wondered about this poduct. I might just have to go out and get one now that I know it really works.
