Despicable Me has to be one of my favorite movies.  I love it.  I’ve watched it so many times, and it never gets old for me.

Last year the creators of Despicable Me released Hop in the movie theaters.  I never got a chance to see it, but my niece took her friends for her birthday party to it and all the kids really liked it.

This year, just in time for Easter, Hop will be released on Blu-ray and DVD (March 23, 2012).

It’s just January and I’m already thinking to the end of spring.  Partly the weather has something to do with it (it’s just been so un-winter here this year), but it’s also because of graduations.  We know a number of people graduating from all sorts of educational institutions and of course that means parties and some gift giving as well.

Where we live it is customary for parents to hold an open house when their children graduate.  It’s kind of a nice way to catch up with people that you may have not seen in a while, family, friends and neighbors.  As a tribute to the graduate you at the least bring a card, and while it’s not an obligation to give a gift, I always sort of feel I should come with something. 

I love Christmas time.  I love decorating for it.  I love my Christmas tree, and I especially love my ‘candy garland’ strands that adorn it each year.  What I DON’T love is the glitter those very same candy garlands leave all over my floors.

Yep from December to June we drag that glitter from one room to the next on the soles of our slippers, socks and feet.  Why oh why does glitter need to cling so furiously?

So last Monday I blogged about Bob Harper’s Smart Weight Loss supplements.  I told you I’d ‘weigh’ in (ooh bad pun, I know!) on my thoughts about it and any weight loss or gain I had using it.  

I started on January 1st with the Smart Weight Loss Starter Kit, which had me taking 2 of the AM formulated pills 30 minutes before breakfast and lunch and then 2 of the PM formulated pills 30 minutes before dinner.  A recommended 30 minutes of exercise per day, approximately 1600 calorie meal plan, the use of a multi-vitamin and 8-10 glasses of water were also a part of the ‘program’.

Our daughter turns 16 this April.  How is it that time can go by so quickly?  I remember her first car ride on the way home from the hospital. My husband tucked her safely into the infant seat and buckled it in the back of the car making sure the seat belt was securely fastened. And now that tiny girl that weighed in at just 6 pounds 3 ounces is ready to get behind the steering wheel herself.  It just doesn’t seem possible.

Before I was married I had no real concept of an investment.  I was just happy to have “pretty things”.

After my father-in-law passed away, my mother-in-law gave all her children some money.  My husband and I wanted to get something with it that would satisfy my need for “pretty” (LOL) but also do a responsible adult thing and purchase something both of value and sentiment.

I wanted to find a great, healthy recipe for a winter day. I found this in the Campbell’s Kitchen, and it’s one of the yummiest chili recipes I have ever made. Also excellent garnished with avocado and green onions!

Inspired by a new year DIY challenge from a friend of mine I searched online for something to make with ingredients I already had in my home.  I decided to make an Aloe Vera Lip Gloss which will give a shine to my lips and protect, moisturize and heal them all at the same time!

Some of you may have already seen this as my husband received is as an e-mail forwarded from a co-worker, who got it from his wife, who got it from…well you know how it goes.  I don’t know where it originally came from but I laughed and thought you might too.  A good start to the weekend!
