Small Space Organizing

5 ½ years ago we sold our 3200 square foot home and down sized.  We bought a condo that had half the square footage.  That brought with it a small dilemma.  What do you keep, and what do you part with?  And an even bigger dilemma, where do you put what you kept?

For some people the size of our home is still large, they live in an even tinier space with more people.  Creativity for storage becomes a must.

I just got finished reading a book called Small Space Organizing by Kathryn Bechen.  In this book she provides tips on how to purge, where to store and innovate decorating.  While the book is written to maximize small spaces, anyone can utilize the advice that Bechen writes.  One of the most inspiring parts of the book is the many times she relates her own and others’ stories about how they enjoy entertaining and fellowshipping in their spaces, even if they’re small. 

If you think you know everything there is to know about organizing and decorating a small space, Bechen surely has one or two tips for you.  I thought I had our ‘smaller’ space pretty well organized, with most everything an assigned place.  But then after reading this book, and visiting her blog, I saw her ‘coffee bar’, and I KNEW I had to do that in my own place.  So I did…

And in turn that freed up a whole bunch of counter space in my kitchen, resulting in a cleaner, more streamlined look.  Besides, how fun is it to have friends over at a REAL ‘coffee house’ LOL!

Whether your small space is your first home or a downsize due to an empty nest, or even if you have more space than you need – Small Space Organizing is a good resource if you want your bedrooms, bathrooms, laundry area, kitchen and dining areas or even just your hallways to be organized and welcoming.
