Family Relocation to the South

Relocating the family is one of the hardest decisions an individual will make in their life. Some areas require extra research before anybody comes to any final conclusions, whereas others present themselves as real contenders early on in the process. One such area of the U.S. that’s proving perennially attractive is the south of the country, where states such as Georgia, Texas and Florida continue to prove popular options for those looking for a different quality of life for their loved ones. Sometimes it’s just the better weather that motivates people to take the plunge, but new jobs and cheaper properties, are often implicated too.

I LOVE Pancakes. They are one of my favorite foods. I could eat them all the time. I’ve begun experimenting with my pancake batter to try and make my pancakes even tastier by stirring extra things into it. Last week I made Rocky Road Pancakes, and here’s how.

Culturelle Kids! Probiotic All-Stars Sweepstakes and Give Away

I think we as parents all think OUR kids are all-stars. Whether they come home with straight A’s and an Honor Roll achievement, they scored 2 goals in last night’s soccer game, or they just finished their broccoli at dinner – we revel in their accomplishments and want them to succeed.

It’s hard to do all those amazing things when they have tummy troubles though, which is why good digestive health is so important for kids. Culturelle Kids Probiotic can help your all-stars stay in the spotlight!

Valentine’s Day. I remember the first one with my husband, that was 20 years ago! We had only been dating for about a month. He showed up at the door with a teddy bear that had a small box of Lindt chocolates. I still have the teddy bear, the chocolates were eaten pretty quickly.

Providence E-Learning E-Books – Beowulf Review

Classic literature is a staple of reading and language arts classes across the world. People fondly claim that reading old literature enhances your knowledge and gives you a better appreciation for ‘real’ writing. This might be true, but it is also an honest fact that most students find ‘classics’ to be boring and confusing. By the time they’re done reading, most of them will have no idea, or understanding of what they’ve just read. Including my 16 year old daughter as bright as she is.

That’s where Providence E-Learning’s e-books shine; explaining these classic literature pieces and their seemingly unrelated morals to today’s culture.

Texting has got to be the most convenient forms of communication. Assuming of course that the person you want to text has something more than a dinosaur or brick for a cell phone. Which, my husband does not. Go figure, the man that turned me into a self-proclaimed geeky nerd is falling behind the curve. But in all seriousness, phoning him isn’t always an option and being able to communicate and organize our daily activities beyond messaging isn’t always the easiest of tasks. He makes plans, and forgets to tell me, I need to tell him something but can’t get ahold of him. I’m sure you have been in the same boat a time or two.

Enjoy Family Movie Night with the Adventures of Mowgli and Friends!

Winter storm Orko was headed our way, and while we never need an excuse to have Family Movie Night around here, it sure was a good one to get cozied up in front of the TV and have a Jungle Party and watch The Jungle Book: Rumble in the Jungle.

Hacker Tracker Cookies

Many, many moons ago, my husband was at a technical conference for his job.  One of the guest speakers at said conference was Cliff Stoll, an astronomer turned systems manager at Berkeley who found a computer hacker in their system.

He related his story to the attendees, and also had his book, The Cuckoo’s Egg, for sale about his experience hunting down the hacker.  My husband bought a copy, read it, and then it sat on our bookshelf…for many, many years.

What do cookies have to do with this you ask?
