I may have mentioned a time or two on my blog that I ♥ Pancakes. So it’s probably no surprise that I ♥ IHOP too.
Despite my love for pancakes, the rest of my family are ‘egg heads’ to put it mildly, once a week without fail we have eggs for breakfast. And I eat them….because I don’t have to make them (LOL!). Egg mornings are all about my husband in the kitchen.
This morning I decided to give him a much needed break, so we headed to one of my favorite places, IHOP, where I could have pancakes and we all could have eggs. That’s a win/win I’d say.
There are two things I always look for on the menu at IHOP. Cinnastack pancakes and their featured items. Right now they’re featuring their new Griddle Melts. We’re talking premium breakfast sandwich here. Artisan sourdough bread holds one of three omelets between it and it equals a very hearty breakfast.
The three choices are:
Spinach, Roasted Pepper & Cheese (which is what I ordered)
Sautéed fresh spinach in a fluffy egg omelet topped with roasted red peppers and onions, melted Provolone, Parmesan and Pepper Jack cheeses
Western
Smoked ham and sautéed peppers and onions in a classic omelet, topped with sliced ham, melted American cheese
Ham & Egg Melt
Sliced ham and melted Swiss and American cheeses over a fluffy egg omelet
Seriously look at this – $6.99 for the Griddle Melt and a side of fresh fruit (you can also have hash browns or seasoned fries with that).
I really should have only ordered the half portion for $4.99, because I also ordered a side of Cinnastack Pancakes (I cannot go to IHOP and not order those!), and ended up coming home with half the sandwich!
Considering I’m not an ‘egg head’ like the rest of my family, I do have to say that the Griddle Melt won me over. It was toasted to perfection, the flavors were complimentary and there was plenty of cheese on it it (always a bonus in my book!). And for the price, you certainly are getting what you pay for.

Which of the three varieties do you think you’d like best?
Tammy Litke received a gift card from IHOP to try Griddle Melts. She was not expected to write a favorable review – and all opinions stated are her own.
